Certificate means nothing if no actual proof is provided. For example you took an advanced SQL certificate, if you can't prove to them you really can do it then that certificate is just like university certificate, no one cares about it,
But that doesn't mean you should stop, go for it man :D -
Yea they just go over the SQL syntax and don’t get into the server side with something like MySQL. Attached is a screenshot of the individual lessons for SQL. Then in each of them they have challenges for trying other skills.
I just don’t trust that it is anything much since most/all certifications have been endorsed by colleges or other businesses and you pay a fee just to take the test. -
@Michelle that is what I figure out of a free app, most/all Certificates require some payment or subscription to give you the certificate or take the test.

@nhalstead00
Well, good thing you realized it wasn't valid before you asked on SL.
We used to get over 20 people asking this every single day, and every time it would piss off the mods. -
It means something. Specially considering that the development community is a community of people that lol about never finishing anything.
Will this get you hired with me? No unless you can prove that you went above and beyond and learned more. But will it get you into my office for an interview? Absolutely.
Keep going at it bud. -
-vim-31687yIn programming, the only certificates people should care about are theorical studies, like math, neural network etc. And even then you can have no certificate and still be a god

C0D4681387yI did it for shits and giggles but mostly to get some more understanding with python while I was working on some automation scripts.
The certificates means nothing more then you managed to understand the basics of using said language, but they wouldn’t be of much use for job opportunities.
