Today is one of many days fellas! Today my coworkers and I will fight again for more salary! Our company is making millions and billions of euros and we won't be gifted for our work!

I hope in your countries you have the same rights to fight for your money. If so, do it!

    In India companies take away our right to form unions and protest in the employment agreement.

    @NotMe since January I am not a trainee anymore, but I fight not only for myself, because I have a good salary (but not great for a 2 people household) but many in our company don't...:/

    @SteffTek I can only tell it from the TelIT situation, our salaray is pretty good and above normal. But good that you also fight for the others! And as I read your older rants, I think we have a good employer but we also need to change a lot, especially the old Software!

    I keep hearing about company owners being proud of hiring “10 interns” and running their business with minimal cost
    Bullshit, really makes me angry that even startup owners think like big business and see staff as something you should squeeze to death

    Yeah. It’s shit, and you should absolutely raise the point about proper remuneration, but you kinda took the job knowing the salary... right?

    If you want more then why not look for a better paying job?

    This sort of stuff just makes companies warier around hiring, and that hurts everyone.

    @Brolls 1. I work for the biggest ISP germanys (or Europe since we launched in further countries) 2. Not only for me, but I fight for trainees and students too!

    @SteffTek yeah, I totally get your point, but the size of the company and it’s bank balance is largely immaterial.

    Wages *tend* to follow market rates, and labour is still a product, entirely subject to supply / demand and profit margins.

    It would be insane if a business hired people they made a loss on, so naturally they’ll try to squeeze as much profit out of a hire as possible, that’s partly the whole point.

    I think it’s entirely fair to raise the point with the employer, but protesting etc only pisses them off. Vote with your feet.

    @Brolls we are protesting because they mostly want to pay less, our (I think it's called) collective agreement is running out again and they want to pay way less

    @SteffTek yeah it probably is a collective agreement through a union.

    And yeah, that sucks.

    But they’ll do it if they can get away with it, of course they will.

    Forcing their hand this way tends to just build up resentment, and who wants to work somewhere that has contempt for their workforce?

    A mass quitting though... well, that’d really fuck them over.

    My advice would be to jump ship and find somewhere better - and encourage others to do the same.

    @kai18 Unionism generally backfires because company may simply close the unit think that it isn't that profitable. Better way is to make yourself unique and important and then negotiate for better salary or look for some other places.

    @vikaskr ver.di is an union you cant simply "ignore" and closing an division wont help.

    Actually I see it very critical when employees are fighting for more money. You guys signed a contract wen starting at that company right? And there was a salary on it.

    That would be the same if you‘re signing a flat contract and after a year you decide for yourself that you want to pay less and until they don‘t accept your offer you don‘t pay anything.

    you have been at an company for 4 years and you get 2000$ every month, the inflation is static at 2%.

    unions make the negotiations about salary easier to manage, for both sides, instead of hundreds of employees who want to renegotiate, you only need to talk with 3 or 4 every few years.

    You might want to add, that telekom in Germany is one of the better paying companies here...

    @SteffTek no company simply closes Thier unit. They just reduced their investment gradually.

    @stop most company here generally offer 5-10% yearly Hike in pay which is mentioned in contract. And if someone wants more they can simply put his claim through HR with proper reasons.

    Unionism tends to be very drastic in India. Union leaders becomes very powerful. More and more demands starts flowing on weekly basis and then frequent strikes on denial of demands.

    There used to be regular jobs for physical laborers. But due to over unionism now they are hired only on contract basis.
