React Hooks question: those states we create in functional components, are they just for UI purposes or does it have use for overall the app? Please enlighten me!1

Was away for 2 months and recently got back to devrant. What's up with all the childish cringy memes? Did devrant become 9gag or do I have to enable a filter to see posts like in the first days?8

Just got accepted to a new position in a company in Dresden where I will earn more than the double of what I already earn! Long live Frontend!2

We deploy the website of a client today. On the 13th Friday. Before weekend. Before I fly abroad for my holiday. If anything goes wrong I'm planning to secretly run away.2

Frontend Dev: That's not possible in Frontend, we should do it in Backend.

I know I'm gonna get downvoted to hell but the only reason I didn't tried Vim is because thay it has such a shitty logo. It's like stuck in 80s. It's seriously bad. I used to be a designer so I can safely say, design or at least how things look do matter sometimes.14

Fuck the design guidelines that change every fucking day. It makes Front-End an unbearable hell. I'm seriously tired of having to code stupid shit for exceptions exceptions exceptions.5

IE: ...... ..... .... yes.
Me: would you like to set it as absolute and stick to bottom?
IE: ........... i don't know...
Me: but all the other guys like chrome and firefox are doing it.. come on it's not object-fit: cover; just absolute positioning. Please.
IE: ......... I can't!
Me: why the fuck not??

today at work i (frontend dev) had an argument about some scss mixins issues, with my boss (senior dev). Not going into detail, I really thought that my method was a lot more efficient and defended my argument strongly until the end. In the end of discussion I saw/accepted that boss' method was better and he said he's nevertheless proud of me for defending what I believed was right. (it's been 2 years since I moved into this country and its language is my 5th one, so I'm only level B2, most of the time I back up from having a deep discussion knowing that my language skill won't take me that far) I really appreciated that feedback from him and it truly made my day. Thank you boss! You're cool! -
I feel like moving to Sachsen/Germany for dev job might not have been the best idea.. sometimes it can get a bit annoying because of all xenophobic people.. anyone else from Sachsen here?9

Me: IE7 sucks and should no more be supported in 2018.
Dev: NO IE7 IS THE BEST BROWSER EVER IN THE UNIVERSE FUCK YOU!!
Same Dev in another Rant: Fuck I hate IE and Microsoft!!!
One question guys: what's up with always trying to find a way to be anti, no matter what? Even if what you defend totally opposes your view. Is this something like a new trend or is this like the new cool now?7 -
Implementing html template with inline styling into Typo3 for newsletter, I'm so fucking bored I'm looking for a cozy place where I can safely faint and lay there for some hours.

If that rant reaches 666 ++'s, I'm gonna cut a client's dick and sacrifice it to our Lord and Savior Satan.33

I studied ancient languages, because of corruption in my home country, I couldn't find any place in academy although my scores were above 90%. Moved to another country and taught myself web development. Naturally in time I lost almost all my knowledge of Latin, Ancient Greek, the whole ancient literature, history, philosophy and culture (everything from historical evolution of tremmas in letter i in ancient Greek to honey fish recipe in ancient Rome cousine). I'm super happy with Webdev tho but I think that also counts as data loss.11
