I feel a little bit lonely when reading all the rants about Windows 😞 Are there more people like me who really can't work with macs but love Windows pc's? I mean, they are fast too, and customizable, and fancy, and work almost always.

Until last year, i always had been working with Windows and i dont love it but neither hate it, I was okay with it. I changed to Mac because i started to code in Swift and for video editing.
If your PC with Windows works fine, stay with it.

@galaxyfinder1 last year I did an internship and they were working with macs. So I was forced to work with them for half a year. Everyone said: now you're finally learning how brilliant a mac is. Well, the best thing after half year internship was switching back to my Windows haha. Really can't work with them but everyone has their favorites :)

It shouldnt matter - you can run Emacs on windows, mac osx and Linux!

I actually love my windows machine. And developing in Windows. I prefer Linux for lower level languages though.

Every tool has its pros and cons. Just stick to what you like best.

Although I'm curious as to why you think windows is more customizable that *nix systems

@xroad was not really "more" customizable, but I was specifically talking about Windows and Mac. Windows beats Mac regarding hardware customization, but desktop customization as well. Like android beats ios in that way.

I am still indifferent, but the more web and mobile app dev I've had to do, the easier I've found working with my Mac. It's just easier work the cli, and the post project cleanup (like removing those wonderful "test" directories and packages we all throw down) feels easier.

I love pc.. for gaming.

@Jordy hardware, yes. Software I find Mac way more customizable. You can use a combination of terminal + Apple Scripts to get most out of the OS.

My problem is that windows just doesn't have a (good) Unix commands line. Which is something I hold dear.

@returningsam: They do, just not for widespread use yet that I know of. But they do Bash on Windows. Native bash, not some BS emulated bash environment.

@returningsam powershell, if you are talking about applications/programs that run in terminal, then you are correct there are fewer applications because the ecosystem didn't require them, *nix systems were terminal based for years before they got what we consider to be a gui. You are kind of comparing apples and oranges. Every operating system has its place, but just because you use the command line doesn't mean everyone does. I think the people who use Linux are varied between those who want the open source, those who want free, and those who want to be a hacker. Sadly Linux terminal is synonymous with media depictions of hackers.

@ingenioushax unfortunately my job forces me into a Windows 7 environment, aka "no native bash for me". But yes I've heard of this and am excited to see it in action.

@philcr PowerShell is crap (in my opinion). And I wasn't saying Windows was BAD because there is no (good) Unix command line, I'm just saying that I choose to not use Windows because of it.
