I can never get over this 😥

We were taught 5-6 subjects of electrical or mechanical engineering in out freshman year 😃 and our course is called "computer science and engineering".
We had ONE subject in the whole fucking year that was related to the course,called "introduction to computer"!!!!
The second semester of the freshman year had no subject remotely close to computers, but yeah we learnt about thermodynamics and beams and Trusses and motors and welding 😒.
They should have also told us what we are supposed to do with that knowledge 😒.

What's the point!!!!
Will is make us a mechanical engineer 😒?
Also have you forgotten we are here to learn about computers and not about the tension in the rope of the pulley 😒?
Also we have no subjects,in the 4 year course about actual development 😃 not even old school web development.
Fucking hate this shit

    @ceee

    when I was in my freshman year, my faculty advisor once called me for that I didn't score well in my Math paper, and when she asked why I didn't do well I stared to rant.

    Then she was like don't worry, when you enter the department everything will be fine..

    Now in my 2nd year, things aren't fine , nothing has improved, shit is getting worse day by day.

    maybe they expect us to get used to it 🤔

    @goodJVM you have a faculty advisor 😮 heckin luxury 😯
    Yeah things are not getting better ,the subjects are fine ,but the syllabus is either obsolete, too much,or literally useless or not well taught.

    @ceee

    Our department is really small ( 200 students per year) compared to other popular branches like CSC (1200 per year) and IT (800 per year ), so they managed to assign a fac. advisor per 40 students.

    They don't give us any valuable advice thought :(

    All they say is don't have arrears, pay exam fees, register for this stupid workshop, competition, etc

    @ceee haha.. So the thing are way too different in long run. Trust me i did my bachelors and masters in CSE. Almost after 5yrs of professional experience i can say you should start really understand things that are wayyy too different than computer.. Let me give you some example..

    @ceee
    My first pro project was with a jap client who was designing building power optimization systems .. For that i had to develop simulation software.. That fucked that shit away from me .. It was full of math's and electrical engineering stuff .. That time i got why they included EEE subject.. Then i worked with another company where i had to design 3D rendering engine and SIMD processing system using mobile GPU .. Fucking trust me .. You fucking need math's .. Without that there is no computer engineering..

    @ceee
    Computer hardware is different story .. Like if you opt for VLSI subject in 7th sem then you need chemical engineering knowledge.. Basically when you work with projects that are core and connected to multi science application.. You suppose to understand the whole system and be super expert in computer science to solve problems that makes a computer solve real world problem..

    Hope that motivated you

    @goodJVM mine is about 120 students , divided into 2 section is 60

    @kunaldawn only if they focused on what you highlighted, instead of motivating us to just clear the subjects.
    Thanks

    @ceee
    Some teachers are ass holes
    Some students are ass holes, like always leaking teachers butt for marks in exams.. Mugging up the shit out of books and vomiting exams .. Students get placed by their look or tits size.. College politics shit crap .. All kind of noise will be there .. Just dont give any fuck and do things that make u survive .. Learn to enjoy.. Work to enjoy.. But u need to do there things to survive.. Trust me .. There was no one to told me when i was in college .. And if some one told me also i would think that the guy is bullshitting on me ..

    @kunaldawn respect++

    expect for the placements thing, I have no clue about this as of now

    Other points are so true!!

    @kunaldawn 😊 thank you for the advice <3

    Well if your course is called Computer Science AND Engineering then it makes a lot of sense to me for your first year because that will apply directly to the Engineering side of things. If there are no development courses throughout the entire four years though, that's a different story. In that case, you just go to a crap school and you should leave immediately, save your money, and take cheaper classes online.

    @badman welcome to India, where almost every uni has this concept.
  • 1
    @badman nope it's not a crap College. As it is run solely by the government (which is a big thing here) 😅 it's among top 5 or 6 in the capital city of our country which has 100s of colleges and it's not that easy to get a seat in this college.

    Idk why they aren't upgrading the curriculum *sigh*

    You in first year? NIT? Could you tell the college name?

    @VTCoder 2nd year Igdtuw 😛

    Seconded

    Oh... I'm a bit late, however, why not just ignore all those subjects until the very end. I studentdid so for my maths papers. Well I can't actually ever feel your kind of pain( already discussed the reason previously). But I feel bad for all the students in India taking CSE (except for those in IIIT H & S).
    However, Yay, your last year of studing shit subjects just got over(or is going to end soon)

    Edit: What *facepalm*. I already commented on it looong back
