I wonder if the devRant devs have ever considered implementing ActivityPub and opening this site up to the Fediverse, in the same way Minds (🧠) or Threads (🤢) did.

It would make this a less isolated corner of the Internet for sure.

Whenever I scroll through Instagram and a threads ad comes up, it’s all porn bots. Same caption and everything.

They’ve gotten real wild and have started showing nudity. I reported them for nudity. Got the answer back “this doesn’t violate our guidelines on nudity”

Of course the same fuckwit that runs Facebook would also make the worst Twitter clone

@AlgoRythm they never expected someone to click on report nudity I guess, maybe it's a bug 😂 Send them a bug ticket with a reproduce so professional as possible 😂 Whaha.

@vintprox did attempts to move the site to the fediverse. He could share the link again. While I think the community maybe would not survive a move, I just want to say that a site with ANY moderation would be a downgrade of this community. I'm worried that a switch comes with moderation and I prefer that people grow a thicker skin than we start protecting each other's feelings we know nothing about. So far it always went good.

TLDR: i doubt for community to survive it and am scared for moderation what is proven not to be needed.

My only wish for Christmas is syntax highlighting and readmission of the apps to app stores. Then I consider this platform perfect.

If @feuerherz would make the mention / liked notification really scroll to the correct mention / liked message would also makes me happy.

So much I want what I don't have power over, it's sad. What's the point of living 😕 j/k.

I think devrant benefits from the economies of the smolnet. It's cheap to run and will probably remain cheap forever, it lacks moderation, the content is never presented inline on another website and rarely linked so the cultural norms of other sites don't apply. In particular, I think activitypub, AT and other protocols that encourage taking posts out of the context of the in-group don't benefit old forums that have a culture of their own.

An ActivityPub app will always have the shared culture of Mastodon to some extent limiting its own. Unless it doesn't federate with anyone, but then what's the point.
