I like sticky scroll.
Had to google what it is. Realized I used and enjoyed it for a while. -
I also like sticky scroll. I actually don't mind enabling features by default, I probably wouldn't have tried sticky scroll if it wasn't automatically enabled for me because I didn't know what it is. Also I think a big reason why OSS struggles to gain popularity is that the default value for settings is always chosen to avoid disrupting existing setups so OOTB they come with a batshit config that looks a lot like the modern tool trying very hard to look like its 50 year old ancestor.
There definitely should always be an option to disable everything however, and Windows' tendency to conveniently forget user decisions that don't align with Microsoft's vision is inexcusable. -
retoor47664dSay that one more time about the office assistant, I made it talk and intelligent: https://retoorded.molodetz.nl. Works best on chrome / android. The tech is not for every browser yet. But clippy dominates now!
I gonna check what sticky scroll is. One sec. -
retoor47663d@TerriToniAX better times will come 😁 Firefox also doesn't support pwa well, I hate that browser. Go be a fox somewhere else or get literally on fire overrated catdog. Worst fox ever. Firefox is as good for browsing as a real fox. Same support for web features. Get screwed by Google ASAP is my advise.

It's clear that we all have different preferences and that's alright. Perhaps I would love sticky scroll too if it worked the right way. As it is now, the file tree sticky scroll sticks to the first unfolded folder even when there are multiple folders unfolded, and doesn't take any account to the parent folder of the selected/highlighted file if any, thus misleading the user to believe the file one is working with is in another folder entirely. Very confusing to say the least, and it took me a while to figure it out. That's the sort of "helpful" features I'd rather reject. And in typical Microsoft manner, there isn't even a setting to disable it, but I had to look it up on the internet and add it manually to the settings file. I agree wth @lorentz. If Microsoft does want to push out features that some might find useful, while others find them annoying, they should at least have the decency to provide an easy way to opt out.

retoor47662d@cafecortado oh, it should've been 'and/or' instead of 'and' :P Will fix someday :P Nah, it works freaking great but there are several reasons you don't see it much online, this is one of them. Not supported on every browser, and the browser where it is supported on has inconvenient click-first policy before you can do anything with the api. On top of it - try to find the microphone policy in your browser. I dare you. It's especially pushed away every deep, deeper than other policies. Suckers. The page could've had a manual on how to do that.
But web STT works VERY good for dictionary word sentences and some common names but can't do devrant usernames for example. It just ignores it when it doesn't have a match. But as long in dictionary, you can talk whole stories to it. The cool thing is: if you would talk to it for a whole day, it only costs me three cents or so. That's way cheaper than the speak api from openai. Locally i have better STT / TTS engine supporting usernames. -

retoor47662d@TerriToniAX you're first one reacting so positive. This is pure chrome browser api. Works good as long you use dictionary words huh? It's amazing. See the very low quality js source. I was fucking alot around to make it working nicely and when it was done I just left it as is. But you'll see it's not complex at all. Search for web speech api. You'll run in some issues getting the full picture running. It's thus not based on llm.
The llm behind it is just openai gpt4o_mini. This system costs nothing.

Sticky scroll in VS Code, who ever wanted that? It's so typical of Microsoft to litter their software with undesired features enabled by default, so one needs to spend precious time to figure out how to disable all of that crap. I read somewhere that 83% of any features developed in any software are never used, or even requested by the users. This was many years ago so I don't know if it's still true, but it definitely still applies to Microsoft, who literally bloat their products with annoying stuff, and then force them upon the users, like the fucking CoPilot. Some Windows features can't even be turned off without editing the Windows registry or installing an app, and sometimes even that doesn't help. Anyone here old enough to remember the Office Assistant? Yeah, it was a predecessor to CoPilot looking like a paper-clip and behaving like a jerk. Just like with CoPilot, you could type questions and commands to it. For some reason, it couldn't be completely disabled by any normal command like "quit" or closing the window, it would always pop up again, until I told it to fuck off and it actually vanished for good.
