I've just realised, I don't care if Facebook are sharing my data... I mean, what I get more ads for men with big penises and ripped abs? So what...

    Look up what can happen.
    Take Cambridge Analytica.

@PrivateGER so what? I get to see adverts telling me to vote trump/Hillary or that star trek is better than star wars... What's the problem...

@seraphimsystems maybe the fact that all data is analyzed by God knows who and is being maliciously used?

@seraphimsystems and when they sell it to insurance companies that decide you need to pay a higher premium?

Or you get refused a job based on things you shared with friends?

If it were just for ads it wouldn't be too much of a problem. In fact, it could be useful; since you would see ads that actually relate to you in some way.

    The problem is this:
"Send me your username and password. I'm not gonna touch anything, I'm just gonna look around."

If someone said this to you, you would say "No". It doesn't matter if you have something to hide or not, that's not what this is about. It's about privacy, and how recent events are setting a precedent.

I was honestly just considering this myself. While it’s not cool, there’s really not much I can do.

Besides, what’re they gonna find it on me? That I have a catgirl waifu, love big boobs, and shitpost? Oh wait, I’m already open about that and keep really sensitive stuff in my brain to begin with.

But I recognize the real threat of political manipulation and possibly sharing your *perceived* beliefs based on flawed, biased data with other companies which they may use to deny you employment and such, but that’s a separate problem altogether that I do not think can be solved because any company with an HR person with an IQ higher than a gnat is smart enough to come up with any excuse to hide their true intentions.

@Voxera so you're saying facebook are selling my private identifiable data to third parties in direct contravention of their own privacy policies?

@Voxera Thank you, this. A few years ago an insurance company in the UK came up with the plan to require users to give their Facebook profile and access to their data. They were going to look whether someone seemed to be firm/definitively worded in general, if yes, higher price, if very yes, no insurance. You also couldn't join if you didn't have facebook. After public scrutiny they didn't do it but yeah. Can't find this online anymore, though...

@seraphimsystems Privacy on FB? Seriously? They sell ALL your data in the form of FULL PROFILES to whoever wants to have it!
