retoor60973dLooking at you Linus Torvalds for dropping all Russians devs that way. I thought we were above politics. Ffs
-
@retoor did he really? What a cunt.
I try to stay away from interacting in projects I use. I am always disappointed by the politics people engage in these projects. Putting stupid political shit in devlogs.
Some projects even do political assassinations. The fact that the community would turn on, and ostracize people in general makes me not want to take part. I don't care if I even agree with not liking the person. This isn't how a community writing software should behave. -
retoor60973d@Demolishun don't you watch Lunduke? Linus first had to drop Russian devs due sanctions but later was less nice to them and took some things personally.

urgh libraries talking about Ukraine at the start of their README made me sick to my stomach. I was born in Ukraine and it was perfectly predictable that it was gonna be a slaughter. these people instigated the murder of all the men in a country. gross. made my stomach churn using that library. hatred, honestly. like what the fuck. just gross. lying to a country and violating so many people but then you wanna pretend random people support this shit. I just want the stupid library. I just wanna do my work. not be assaulted by disgusting "ideals" that nobody is allowed to even disagree with. subjugation and liars
they throw perfectly good things under buses and make the world worse -
remember when rms said rapping kid was all right because the kids can consent :3
-
@retoor i don't know
But my friend bumped into richie stallman, our collective daddy, in montreal airport.
He told him coolio for inventing "linux". The guy got annoyed :E -
@cuddlyogre also software were always written by ideologues. rms was an ideologue. Wozniak was an ideologue. Linus is a bit of an ideologue as well. Science is never neutral anyway
-
all of the open source world is based on the "ideology" of "all people should have free access to dev tools".
-
@antigermgerm @tosensei You missed the part where I said "I just want tools that work."
I shouldn't know your beliefs against my will. I especially don't want to hear your message when your product is failing to live up to expectations because preaching your message is more important than competence.
At best, I will replace you, and at worst I will grow to resent you.
And yes, science is meant to be a totally neutral pursuit of the truth untainted by personal belief. Anything else may as well be religion. -
@cuddlyogre you missed my point of "open source software has ALWAYS been written by ideologists".
and you're kinda required to know about those believes by reading the corresponding licenses. which you oughta do before using software.
and the pursuit of truth is never "totally neutral" in a world where ideologies exist that oppose the truth (aka religion, patriotism, etc.) -
@tosensei The difference between then and now is now their ideology means far more than their work, and all it does is garner resentment toward them and their ideology. The ridiculous and unprofessional behavior on display in modern times was unheard of even 15 years ago.
Believe what you want. Just be competent while you do it. -
> The ridiculous and unprofessional behavior on display in modern times was unheard of even 15 years ago.
no. it's not "unheard of" just because you didn't hear it.
trust me, any "ridiculous and unprofvessional behavior" that exists now has been around since mankind exists.
I miss when software was written by programmers and not ideologues. I don't care what you believe, even if I believe it too. I just want tools that work.
