So it's 2018 and i am wondering is there a:

Laptop with at least 16go of ram that can last AT LEAST 24 hours ?

Tasks involved:
Running vms
Ide
Browser

Work related stuff

No Apple products please

Thanks!

Ps: i already got a couple of laptops so i am not in a hurry i am more looking for something that i can carry around while traveling in a lightweight manner

    The max seems to be 18 hours: Lenovo ThinkPad T470

    Not sure if you decide to use it for all the stuff you listed (especially the IDE).

    Good to know, i like thinkpads very much (i own one right now doesnt last more than 2-3 hours)

    Might be a solution with an extra battery if possible

    If you're in America, the LG Gram is probably your best bet.

    as far I've googled the laptops with longest lasting battery last for 16 hours with an expansion battery pack attached.

    However, if a laptop suports usb-c charging you could get a external baterypack like the ones from Anker or RAVPOWER.

    that way I probably get 18 hours out of my 12" macbook.

    Some good products (16+ hrs):

    Dell XPS 13 2018
    HP Spectre
    HP ProBook 440
    HP EliteBook
    LG Gram

    That's not to say they last this long with a VM running or under load

    Thanks all

    I guess i will have to go with something like lg gram or thinkpad plus a battery charger (way less heavy and cumbersum then juggling with multiple laptops)

    All what's left to check is if battery charger are allowed in flights

    Unfortunately it does not apply to my use case

    It's more for web related dev on very long trips

    Vms can be:
    Local jenkins container
    Local gitlab
    Local taiga
    Container spawned by jenkins to do code quality/complexity checks and QA
    Erlang vm when needed

    Things get pushed/synced when possible

    @Paramite awesome idea for a laptop that can hang for more then 3 hours

    I will need like 8 batteries

    I am pretty sure if i try to board a plan with that much in my bag i will be in the news 🤣

    Lenovo ThinkPad T480 ... 2 batteries so you can swap them on the go :-)

    Also superb battery life with each battery

    @AlpineLinnix I'm using the s variant myself cause it got 2 heat pipes for the cpu alone whereas the normal 480 just got one for both cpu and gpu ... So far it is a superb notebook with awesome battery life and massive amounts of power ... i5, 16gb ram 512 Samsung 960pro nvme ... It's a beast
