I recently read that somewhere: "Windows 10 is like a big and beautiful mid century modern house. But if you look a little close you soon notice that the strong and distinctive lines look a little off, and there is something lurking underneath. Then one day you accidentally step where you shouldn’t have, your foot falls through the floor. Upon further inspection you quickly realize that this modern beauty is built upon the skeleton of an actual mid century house, one poorly constructed decades ago. And as you dig deeper, you soon discover that the whole thing stands on the foundation for a shack erected around the turn of the previous century." (I forgot to write down the source, though)
This summarizes Windows very well. -
There is always something wrong with at least one of the features in every install, nice way to learn stuffs, you will find yourself skilled eventually. π

That's where learning a distro vs learning Linux is akin to learning the fundamentals vs learning a framework. One gets you only so far, the other gets you all the way.
Then again I'm all thumbs on a Mac. Tried it, couldn't use it. I suppose old habits die hard. -
I like the customization options, terminal, and the beautiful UI which makes me wanna hug my laptop so hard βΊοΈπ€
No other OS gives that much freedom and control π -
@Alice lol, then in that moment you get to swear more than all other OS users combined

It is the only open source (desktop) OS which can compete with the big commercial ones (sorry BSD users).
It respects your privacy and does no telemetry (ymmv depending on the distribution).
It can be very stable, very fast, run reasonably fast on ancient hardware and imho has the best window managers available (esp. Tiling ones are not really good on Win or macOS).
You have to pay no license fee for it. Imagine running a company solely on on Linux.
