But look at it like this. It's becoming an everyday part of our life. Writing and being educated wasn't always a part of our lives. Therefore, people were living their lives uneducated. But being educated, and specifically writing, became a large part of our daily lives. What did people do? They adapted to the changing times. And it's time for that to happen with technology.
I don't expect everyone to be interested enough to pursue comp sci degrees, but you should understand basics like typing a paper and finding information on the internet. (Especially people up to or around 25 30s. This is when technology started to really become available for our daily lives on a large scale.)
Don't get me wrong, there's no need to be a dick about it, but there's also gotta be some cooperation from the technologically ignorant to adapt and learn if they want to use technology. -
aritzh7527yI agree with you on the "not being a dick" part, however, I consider this to be a issue on a much bigger scale.
Like @jhh2450 said, technology is such an important part of our daily lives, that it should be part of everyone's education (and no, I am not talking about teaching how to fucking put the title of a word document in bold).
There should be a set of basic knowledge about computes/internet, just like all of us should learn who Hitler was, and what he did, even if we don't give a fuck about history. Things like how to do a proper google/ddg/whatever search, and avoiding dangers like phishing by checking for the green lock on websites, and basic things like that. -
hack64147yIMO, the problem about non-tech guys is they don't want to understand things. They are not even trying. If you don't have enough knowledge about a topic, you shouldn't make decissions about something in that topic. You don't want to tell a doctor to do a surgeon with a fork, plastic one please. The main problem is they don't accept that they have limited knowlegde (or even none).

Fortunately most people (seniors) learned by my teachings, but I still struggled with young people too, especially Apple users.

The amount of rants on here I see of 'Devs' complaining that other non-tech people aren't knowledgable/ can't understand 'simple' explanations / etc and are mean, or even cruel to those non-techy people is alarming.
Just because you've spent a lot of time on something youre interested in, doesn't mean:
A. Everyone else is interested in it.
B. Everyone knows everything about it.
These 'Devs' are the reason most Universities require mandatory social classes so they can make sure you can talk to people in a nice manner and get your point across.
Majority of the time I need to explain a concept I find simple or I know to someone, I try to find an analogy about something both parties know. I know that pulling the documentation information and giving to them will just result in more questions and they won't understand.
You just gotta know how to talk to people without getting angry at them for being who they are, human.
