I was explaining git and Github to one of my friends during our boring maths class when he asked : "What is the difference between git and Github?". Just then another friend of mine sitting in front turns out and said : "It's like the difference between porn and Pornhub".17

There should be a name for rants about fake stories. Like the ones you read and can smell some bs going on. I suggest frants.3

The amount of rants on here I see of 'Devs' complaining that other non-tech people aren't knowledgable/ can't understand 'simple' explanations / etc and are mean, or even cruel to those non-techy people is alarming.
Just because you've spent a lot of time on something youre interested in, doesn't mean:
A. Everyone else is interested in it.
B. Everyone knows everything about it.
These 'Devs' are the reason most Universities require mandatory social classes so they can make sure you can talk to people in a nice manner and get your point across.
Majority of the time I need to explain a concept I find simple or I know to someone, I try to find an analogy about something both parties know. I know that pulling the documentation information and giving to them will just result in more questions and they won't understand.
You just gotta know how to talk to people without getting angry at them for being who they are, human.

This is a rant.
I'd rather say go fuck yourself. I mean whatever the fuck you mean by block chain programming? Found a word and start adding random words to it and start learning it? I mean who the fuck wants to program AI in HTML? (Seen somewhere else)10 -

Back when I was in high school I created something like a simple version of MS Paint using Turbo C where the only graphics library function I used was putPixel().
I was so excited and showed it to my mom and what she said was : "Don't you have MS Paint for this, why do you bother creating a new one? Do something productive with your life."3 -

I asked a co founder of a tech startup, "Why use MEAN stack? " his reaction \_(ツ)_/¯ because it's cool and famous.

What does full stack developer mean these days. It used to mean you could work the database, the backend code and the UI. What does it mean now?14

Be a MEAN stack developer not just a mean developer.
Unfortunately, I have met few developers who just like to demean other people who know less or are less experienced.8 -
I find myself always accidentally saying "string" when I mean to talk about words and "array" when I mean to talk about a list.

Writing Node entirely in TypeScript. Mini MEAN stack front and back entirely in Typescript... What a beauty 😍

Well, not all people close chrome tabs after work, some close Firefox tabs too. You damn browserists.6

By the way, for anyone that gets a "lol" from me, I really mean I'm laughing out loud. I don't like being dishonest with these stuff.
Like when I'm in classes and message something funny to a classmate and he replies "rofl", I really expect him to be rolling on the floor laughing but fuck, he's there sitting with a perfect pose without even a smirk on his face. Next time you rofl at me, motherfucker, I expect you to be rolling in the floor. ROLLING ON THE FLOOR LAUGHING.
So appreciate my lols please. I mean them. I lol in the subway, my car, in classes and the bathroom. I'm sincere with them.6 -
What does self taught mean? I mean you go online and learn through tutorials, is that still self taught??2

someone offered me a job a few days ago, and he said that for that job I'll have to learn something and send him a small project just so he'll know I've learned it... so I did, and now he doesn't answer to me... I want to fucking sue him for wasting me so much time1

Just had a web dev newbie crack a MEAN pun and tell me "Learning it is so MEAN lol". Should i tell him he's only about the 1230193848 x 10^6th person to crack that joke?

Getting started with MEAN stack(finally) after lot of thinking (and a year of android dev). Wish me luck and provide your inputs about my decision.8
-
I really hate the term fullstack developer. Just call it what it really is. Javascript react developer who dabbles in node occasionally.
If you don't have some knowledge of tuning a database, tuning your runtime, handling issues with networks and latency in your code, dealing with issues with message queues, writing abstraction layers for the database, etc. you aren't a backend developer, sorry to say.
Being able to reason about a mean stack running on digital ocean doesn't not make you proficient in the backend.3 -
I mean. People love Docker and Kubernetes? Really? I mean, I agree it's good. I'm just wishing if people demanded for better and simple software and not complicated stuff. Idk10

It's a bit late but what do these specs mean?
The f and the 16/20.

You come to me to seek help to clean your mess **YOU** did to someone and If I fix it, it's you who fixed it or else I'm your fallback guy, *claps*
You fucking moron, I was your fallback guy ever since we met, I treat you as a friend, ask to meet unconditionally and all you've ever done to me is to fix Windows installation. FUCK YOU MAN2 -
What's the best nodejs framework for the MEAN stack? I need to do additional things to put TypeScript in node js and express. I have seen nestjs with a good directory structure and also uses TS by default. How about meteor or Koa?
Should I just add TS to my existing node and express? Or use nestjs or some other nodejs framework. What do you suggest?3 -
I really don't understand why tabs vs spaces is such a big issue. I mean does anyone actually use spaces? I mean I don't think ANY developer would use spaces when you have tabs!4

Me : mahn, I'm not able to setup pythn bindings for vim
Friend ( who is tired of me saying about vim ): go get a life
Me: sodo apt-get life
Me: looks like the package is not available, what is the exact name?6 -
Full stack developer?! Which one is hard front end or back end? I'm talking about MEAN other than mongodb!4
-
My MEAN stack study is about 75% now but then I keep on getting some new cool things like integration of NestJS and Redux in the MEAN stack.
MEAN Stack - a very big steep learning curve but I like it.1 -
About the ongoing battle of tabs vs spaces, there is an option in most text editors to convert tabs to spaces ( if you press tab it insert a certain number of spaces ). Use that and you will be fine.
Also if you are contributing to other projects which could be using tabs, there are plugins that will detect if the indentation is spaces or tabs and when you press tab automatically inserts spaces or tabs accordingly1 -
am i the only one who likes quoting Blazing Saddles in git commits?
most recent being adding mongo to a project. -
If ever a jinn grants me a wish I would ask him to build me a webpage. If he does I'll report back to you guys wether he went for material design or not, the JavaScript framework, the backend language, client or server side rendering etc.
Waiting for a jinn... -
The small company I work for has FINALLY decided to start moving towards the MEAN stack, in which I was overly thrilled! However they have started to regress because "cold fusion is so much easier to write"

a MEAN stack developer, got a work in cakePhp..convinced my bosses to convert the cakephp project into a mean stack..and after 1 week, I have decided to learn cakephp myself :/1

Once one my teachers asked me to write the code for insertion sort and mail her as she didn't know how to do it. OK, whatever. And then she asked me to send it as pdf or word file. I gave up.

Yesterday. Mean stack exam tomorrow. Only study for the websocket question. Go to the exam. Teacher says pick a question. Folded paper with questions on table. One is not neatly folded, so can see through. Says websockets. Pick question. Forget half the stuff about http protocols. Still got a B. :D
Now, time for coffee.3 -
what do you mean the documentation hasn't been updated since April? what do you mean all my testing is invalid?

Hey web devs out there!
I have a question that I couldn't get an answer too.
I'm using Ubuntu 17.04 and lamp stack for my web development.
And now I've taken a course on Mean stack. So now I want to install the related server i.e node. But as you might see I already have Apache as a server.
Now I don't want to replace the lamp stack completely with mean stack. I want it to be there and working.
I also want to install and run mean stack.
So my question is how should I go about installing node server and related technologies? Multiple servers will give a problem for me or how should I solve it?
I saw something like using a different port for node. But I couldn't completely understand. So any help is appreciated.
Thanks!7 -
Oh there are lots of good tools to handle different screen sizes like containers, anchors, scaling and all that good stuff huh ?

Sets it to stretch mode instead -
Just asking for an opinion, I'm gonna do a project. Which one would you guys recommend MEAN or Ruby on Rails? I just want to do this project for fun and as a side project I know somewhat node js but RoR seems fun so what will you guys recommend??8

The Senior Director of Engg of a company does not know what MEAN stack is.. Some ridiculous facts about Tech Industry!3

Got in a great company wherein I will be transformed from php to mean/mern stack. Improvise adapt overcome.
Will apply php best practices in the JS world.
After mean/mern, study react native or flutter. I like flutter but in my company there are only react native projects. Hhmm maybe because flutter is just new. Exciting future indeed 💪6 -
So I have a MEAN app that is super simple just basic CRUD operations.
Everything works fine. Decide to extend it by bringing values over into fields on an Edit page. More work than I thought it would be but got it working, just passed values through an array in the URL. Pretty simple. So then I click save and it's broken. _id is apparently now undefined. Oh I posted it on the Javascript chat on SO and got nothing, instead everyone is talking about porn folders, a tweet, a random picture that looks like either a woman doing oral to a guy or a guy reading a book, and now Obamacare. FFS just answer my damn question >.< So I post it on SO itself and still crickets there. Worst part is I know its something simple I just don't know what it is because I'm still new to programming in general only been a few months in a bootcamp just learning the basics of MEAN stack (which I do like a lot tbh)
Man SO is so frustrating.
