I just tried Quantum and Chrome at my school libraries computer (4GB RAM).
Seriously?
Both times I tried opening my website (only one tab) and besides Quantum not even showing my website but a white loading circle... Here are both RAM usages..

Now just for being accurate and all, did you disable all plugins and extensions on all browsers?

Plus what’s that dip at the end of the 3rd task manager, looks like you closed that browser as you took the screen shot.

@C0D4 Nope, I didn't close it. I didn't remove any plugins, just the vanille fresh (HD-guard resetted) default browser. And yes I had focus on firefox not the task manager on the screenshot but you see the graph and that it didn't make much of a difference.

That's disgusting. In what world do we live in where a browser us so damn heavy?

    FF's memory management is shit.
But somehow people still compare 200 tabs with 20 extensions in chrome with 1 tab in a fresh, clean ff install, see 20mb difference and call chrome ram-hungry.

Also, I think it's unfair to compare these two by ram usage only.
Chrome is way more responsive than Firefox.

If a script is a bit whacky and overuses ressources or has an infinite loop, Firefox essentially crashes away. While in chrome, _only_ the tab crashes and this crashing tab doesn't reduce your browsing experience on other tabs.

Next, am I the only one living through hell when using ff's inspector? The fucken thing does inspect everything, but not the element your mouse is pointing at..

@daintycode I agree. Only edges inspector is worse. Yet it has some nice features and edges interface is userfriendly and sexy looking with Fluent.

I always claim that devs prefer firefox unless they are webdevs/designer. They love chrome for the speed and usability.

@Haxk20 it was the latest one 4 weeks ago or so. I personally asked the sys admin in the library who updated everything to install chrome <3
