I think Disney deserves to be repeatedly kicked in the nuts for what they did with copyright
-
It very much devalues all kinds of creative talent by enabling people who don't know what they are doing to produce things that look good enough for those that are ignorant of what they are looking at.
I feel bad for traditionally artistically inclined people, because almost no one cares that none of this slop is accurate in any real way, which means it's going to be next to impossible to make money from their craft ever again. These infinite slop generators have essentially killed art.
But my prospects as a developer are brighter than ever. All these vibe coded products that no one understands are going to need real people to fix them when they break, so it's free eats for people like me. -
"There is no such thing as IntEllECtuAl ProperTy"
If I were your employer I would be very concerned about this take. -
@cuddlyogre the artists need to create a "certified human artist" (similar to "certified organic", might also be a good term for this) label to distinguish their work.
-
@cuddlyogre they need a "pedigree" of some sort for real artist work. I am not against AI used to aid in creating artwork. I am against AI being used to abuse people's hard work and steal the fruits of their labor. I know some artists are experimenting with creating artwork using AI in their own style for their own benefit.

Hazarth97202d@Demolishun I'd even say that saying "certified human artist" is redundant. It should just be "certified artist"
... though who's the certification authority?... I'd hate to see an authority on who is an "artist" and who is not tbh...
in fact maybe just PGP keys and signed artwork might be enough... you can establish yourself as an artist yourself via speedpaints and being a generally good person to work with and art signed by your key would have higher value than unsigned one, not to mention it would be trace-able so if someone lied and made signed art using NNs a company could sue for exactly each piece of art that they delivered :P -
Hazarth97202dYou may not think there is such a thing as intellectual property... but since most of the world operates as if there was, then there is...
I'd also like to see that shit go or get changed in a major way, but alas, if IP exists to a lawyer and a judge, you can sue for it and you will be in the right -
@Hazarth can AI detection algos detect AI produced art? Maybe its not possible. I am not even sure people will value organically produced art versus digitally produced. Probably only rich people will care.

retoor77242d@cuddlyogre I had vibe coding adventure today. I wanted to make an easy to remember password generator. It should include all the weird stuff like digit, punkt etc and a word from dictionairy that it could get from words.txt. Ik had to be minimal 8 chars. Well, GPT executes it perfectly of course. But I wanted it to convert it to C. Do you think that it could make ONE function doing all the steps to make the required password? I don't think so. This was just a light form of complexity. I really wonder what all people are actually vibe coding. Maybe it's just so much better in front-end webdev?

Hazarth97202d@Demolishun they can, but as with all things AI, It's not perfect and It's an endless game of cat and Mouse.
My hope is people will value human art more than before, we just need to give it time. All the AI slop looks the same after a while, AI can't make new things, it can only mash old ones. So truly unique pieces will be valuable.
Where AI will dominate imo is Marketing. Worst art job anyway
What's your take on the Ghimli studio drama.
Here is mine.
So for reminder, apparently shitGPT started generating images (big whoop) and all the normies are using it to mimic their favorite japan cringy anime.
Which apparently isn't to the taste of the anime drawer, who is apparently trying to sue everyone for copying his art style. Including not only chat GPT, but individual users as well.
So:
1. IA is a gadget. It's pretty convenient but if you think it will fundamentally change the fabric of society, you're an idiot.
2. There is no such thing as IntEllECtuAl ProperTy
3. Metallica's singer is a bitchtard. Suing for people to steal your music is the opposite of metal, retard. Same shit for the japan retard, i'll never watch your ghimlee shit now. Princess mononoke my balls, more like streissand so close no matter how far my dick. I hate you and I want your nails removed and then your finger dipped in salt.
