I will need a laptop for uni and I thought you guys could give me some tips on good brands/models. I want it to have at least 16GB of RAM, preferably a newer generation of i7 and dedicated NVidia graphics. The bigger the screen is the better. I don't care too much about the battery but I would like to have a few USB type A ports and some HDMI/DP outputs. The maximum price (shipping included) should be around 1000 - 1200€

    Sounds like you need a Thinkpad or gaming laptop.

    I'm in a flow with some work ATM (got a text so taking a quick break lol) but I'll look some stuff up and give you my two cents in just a bit.

    @D3add3d Uhhh fitting all those in that price range seems a wee bit excessive.

    I've found a Razer laptop that has the RAM and CPU, but not the graphics card. (Plus it only had a 256 of 512 gb SSD.)

    Alienware and Thinkpads all get the range of $1500.

    A Dell XPS 15 that meets your requirements (but again, only 512 gb SSD) is $1,500+ as well.

    You're probably going to have to sacrifice on some of the specs or increase your budge somehow. The two are not cooperating with each other lol

    If money is not an issue; a MacBook can run the Apple specific stuff, plus you can use a virtual machine for Windows specific stuff.

    I usually don't recommend these, as they are useless if you don't take advantage of the Apple stuff. Well, not useless, just not worth the price.

    I'm getting one because I want to compile code for the iPhone and iPad. The new ones should be announced in the coming month.

    @ODXT I am more of a Windows + GNU/Linux dual-boot guy and I absolutely hate Apple. And yes, money is an issue, ideal price is <= 1000€ but I can go for 1200€ if the price/performance ratio is really good.

    Well I'm not up to date on laptops. But a year or two ago, I got a gaming laptop for my brother. Here's the link. You might find some newer.

    Dell Inspiron i7559-2512BLK 15.6 Inch FHD Laptop (6th Generation Intel Core i7, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD + 8 GB SSD) NVIDIA Gaming GeForce GTX 960M https://amazon.com/dp/B015PYZ0J6/...

    Seen it. I actually hate Apple, but I have to be honest about their tools. Some people actually have some use for them. I want to hit that market, therefore I'll need a MacBook.

    Other than that they're overpriced, incompatible with a ton of software, and their hardware is overrated.

    But again, a person can find it useful, depending on their use-case.

    @dtaposh there are electrical outlets ALL OVER the uni building, the building is designed for IT students so an outlet is never further than a power adapter with a cable of average length can reach... so, no I won't care about battery at all. Heck, I don't even need a battery :D

    @D3add3d if that's the case, then you should be able to get a decent gaming laptop with a 1050Ti (maybe even 1060) card and the other specs you mentioned.

    @dtaposh and that's exactly what I am getting :)
