What makes a dev a real dev?

    Putting backdoors on client websites?🤔
  • 1
@JKyll you are a real dev once you start commiting yourself to coding. Period.
  • 7
@JKyll Nah. Making a hybrid app for IOS and android and charging each of them separately including extra time to build for another platform.

@gnulinuxer4fun what if the people having a hard time naming their variables are really committed?

@over9000 what about embedded programming devs?

You both see the point right?
  • 3
@JKyll I'm specifically said hybrid apps not embedded.

To to be honest naming variables can be hard sometimes.
  • 1
@over9000 the point is it's a fallacious statement.

@JKyll i never said that having thone problems doesnt make you a developer

Well. My job title is developer and I sometimes find naming variables a challenge. I'm sorry for not meeting your standards.
  • 0
@totoxto you do not not meet my standards. Its just that you dont really have to rant about it lixe it makes you a developer
  • 1
@gnulinuxer4fun what if they have a job but from my perspective their code sucks?

    Is that considered committed?
  • 5
@gnulinuxer4fun obviousely you havent had much experience working in a development team.

Naming variables is important for the readability of the code.
If you dont understand why the concept of code readability is important, you can't be more than an amateur developer from my point of view.
  • 2
@bioDan if my boss/team needs me to debug someone's code it usually means it's unreadable...

    I do a lot of debugging.... :(
  • 2
@billgates i guess you do know the importance of code readability then 😊
  • 2
Naming variables can indeed be hard - but that's usually a sign that you aren't really clear about what the code is supposed to do. The solution is to think that through, then the names will readily fall in place.

man so offensive my uncle died naming a variable
  • 1
@Fast-Nop neither is god functions that don't fit in the screen and have references that require scrolling up to figure what they are and what it's using it for
  • 1
Fair play, guilty as charged, it's a fair cop...
