I asked head of department if he knew what salting/hashing passwords was and he said no.... is this real life?

that reminds me of my experience at my last internship company .So I was an Android developer and they don't had anyone writing a server side code so indeed I had to do the job . So I when I made an api using node at the end showed them that how am securing their user by salting password and sending request using o-auth tokens. but I was surprised to see they had no idea what salting password was or what o-auth had importance .TLDR; they were all web developers

Due to your last post I thought I'd look at your others and it's not looking brighter. This company sounds horrendous. I pray they have nothing to do with ecommerce.
