Me: "You could try using Redis, cache that baby and try and squeeze some speed"
Dev: "Hun?! Should I use it on the front end or the back end?"
Well... Webdev is not his thing to be fair!4 -
"I don't care if it's world class in the back end! It has to look pretty. The back end can be hanging by a thread for all I care, front end is what the customer buys!", The Almighty Project Manager
Yeah...thanks...that's why loading a table is taking 3 minutes and 'v2' in an entire Refactoring of the back end. When deadline comes, read quote above to get a glimpse at the future.3 -
Apple revoked FB and Google's Experimental Certificates!

Oh my....I thought I was doing a very inteligent thing when I bought my Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime. Comming from an iPhone 5S. This was a cheaper phone with twice the batery power!
I was feeling it you know? This is the thing!
One year later....dang it! They forgot about the phone?
Great specs. No updates by Xiaomi.
Not even a rant just...sad disapointment!
Late December they said.... Nothing...
Damn!11 -
That big lie we tell others.. "Let me just finish something here..." (4 bugs solved, 10 new ones and 2h later) "shit!!! I'll be right there!!! Let me just...."1

The new guy just locked our server account (I was using it, thats why he couldn't login) and the IT guy from the client has already left...
I guess its and early day... -
"So... you know SQL? Great!! Here, I have this project for you to fix a few things."
"What is it?", you ask... SSIS packages and stuff!
Where do I start??!! -
Just dozed off for 30mins during this meeting, and only 2 mins have passed...
Hate when this happens! -
I had a professor, in college that believed "sometimes we have to fire customers. There are bad customers and it serves no purpose to spend time and effort in serving them when they burn you out and are simply bad customers" and I share that vision.

When you're in Word and press CTRL+P to search for a segment in the document...
Or press CTRL+F5 on Sublime Text
Or press CTRL+S in the browser...
My brain can't handle this...2 -
DB migrations give the chills.
This one went well. It worked as expected but that "uneasy" feeling lingers... -
Lotus Notes Lotus Notes Lotus Notes Lotus Notes Lotus Notes....
What I really hate....is Lotus Notes!5 -
Why are devs so fixated on other devs' IDE, OS, programming style and chair choices??
Imagine if every sports player would comment on the way the other walks, bats, the colour of their shoes!
Devs are a bit picky don't you think?12 -
I just love when I correct 20 little bugs, and always with that "Ah!! Of course!" feeling, before finding the little ';'...

Test your code. Take extra time to do self-review. It'll improve your code quality and position within your peers.
When you enter that "minor change-trial-error" phase. Go to sleep or take a long break. You're loosing time and adding more work to be reviewed and corrected later -
I'm learning python and I feel more and more like it!
I either have too much space, or not enough. And this is screwing my chance to pick up tabs... -
Why can we all relate to almost every rant for wk24?
Devs could rule the world! Why do we have to endure all of the same crap from India to the UK?
(The recurring meetings and the 'Dynamic Requisits', as I call it, are what bugs me the most!)5 -
If your issue is not on StackOverflow and you can't find it on the web:
Go another way, you're probably doing something very wrong!

Oh no internet?
Hmm...I'm no longer a programmer then.
But I will be as soon as I can talk with my friend Google!1 -
Guys, I have a question and I was wondering if you could help me here...
I was thinking, is there a way to have a user login, and behind the scenes it will take to its "website"?
I.e.: Lets say, I have something like wordpress but for each instance, should I deploy a subdomain or, can I create a single entry point and then route the user to its specific wordpress instance?
Can you advise? Suggestions?
Thank you in advance18
