May someone explain to me why it is that we don't collectively just put IE down by simply not supporting it anymore instead of working around it?

The simplest answer is: We just cannot, because people still use Internet Explorer, sometimes because they're on Windows XP, 98 or 95. If we could I would be with you at 100%. Because making our css compatible with IE is just a Pain In the Ass, literally.

@Squarety if you have users on those OS’s just drop TLS1.0 support and you’ll never hear from them again 😂

iE 11 is still in use, not far behind Edge for me, so I still have to maintain some level of usability for it. But I don’t go out of my way to make sure everything sits right.

I'm not sure you understand how many people in the finance sector use old versions of software.

Like, seriously. They still use software from 20 years ago because "it works".

    Unfortunately/fortunately, its true.

@D--M That's why the websites which it can be useful for older browser users to have a responsive website, I made the efforts to make it possible but for some websites, like a web app for a game or something that doesn't need to make it compatible for the older browsers I don't.
