I feel for you. I got a broken key cap in the middle of my laptop keyboard and it sucks.
-
@JohnScott
If that keyboard is proper mechanical one you wont need one. They can be easily replaced by pulling the old one out and plugging new one in. -
@Gregozor2121 I've seen someone do that in a video but I forgot about it. Keyboards that can actually be repaired seem like a fantastic idea. Why da fuck are they only marketed towards gamers?! I want to buy a diy keyboard kit when I get a chance.

PaaPsik10296y@Gregozor2121 only the hotplug ones can be swapped like that, most of the mech keyboards need soldering
-
@pionell You can always replace stems without soldering, just need a little screwdriver to wedge out the inner part of the switch.

@JohnScott They're not only marketed at gamers, and I'd actually advise anyone looking for a gaming keyboard, to get a non-gaming one.
The gaming boards tend to have awkwardly shaped keycaps or unnecessary features.
I personally prefer CherryMX Brown switches, no knockoffs. Reds don't offer much of a gaming advantage in my opinion, and are weird as fuck for typing.
For sub-€100, I'm a big fan of the Ducky One 2 Horizon — all keys are reprogrammable, and keycaps are sturdy doubleshot PBT. -
@pionell nah, you can just open the switch replace the broken part and put it back together
A switch on my mech keyboard broke.
It's ot amusing at all.
