From past 2 days I have been trying to learn to type without looking at my keyboard.
Can't see any progress. Typing speed has reduced by 80%☹️
Maybe it will get better after I properly learn.

Anybody got any suggestions ❓

    I can't type either.

It's a huge embarrassment and words can't describe how much I regret not taking the typing class I had for 3 years serious.

It will take more time and dedication than two days. It will probably take months if not years of practice.

If you're not patient with results you will probably never learn.

If it's something I wanted to do I would do it every day for an hour or so. Don't worry too much about progress unless you think you've put in your best effort and not cheated on practice for a month or two.

Das Keyboard with blank keys. Leaves you no choice but to learn.

@BigBoo Time is not a problem for me. But right now I am able to type much faster by looking at keyboard. If I try without it, my speed reduces drastically and I am not able to finish my work in time

Weirdly enough, what helped me the most to remember where each key is, besides typing a lot of things, is gaming, mostly in strategic games where you dont have time to think what key to hit because its in real time and you need to reinforce that part of your dungeon/island/asteroid/planet... with that special key or combo of keys.
Moba games are also really good for that.
One issue tho is that its hard after a certain age to train muscle memory effectively and fastly (i see that as i try to improve my drum skillset and i cant manage to match the same learning rate i had younger), but with time anything is possible.

@xkill Yeah. Then separate practice and production.ä

I don't try new things for the first time in systems that go live. I do experiments on the side to find out how I can put new concepts into production.

You don't need to practice all the time. But you need to practice on a consistent basis if you want to get better. Most people cheat with practice though. Even I do.

I'll give you my two cents. I don't have problem writing without looking to the keys but a while ago I changed my keyboard to an Ergodox with blank keycaps.

So, how it felt at first? A complete madness and had a big impact to my workflow.

The solution? Use it to type on desktop chat apps, and use it more for non productive tasks like everyday web browsing.

The Ergodox is an Ergo keyboard as the name suggests, so check some hand postures while typing, your problem is probably the wrong use of fingers for each key or bad resting posture using the keyboard.

Writing without looking the keys is mostly about the hands in one confortable position where you can reach them everytime in the same position.

If you are looking a website to train, I used typing.io

    Hope this is useful

I try to type without looking. It is still slower but it is worth it. Train with code like typing.io . The text only trainers help too but you will get angry fast when trying to type code if younare not prepared :D

Learn all the finger positions - which finger is associated with which keys. Then it's just practice. Give it time.
