Hello guys, here is my first rant about my job. So, I work in marketing, mostly content and SEO as the main job and my 2nd job is a somewhat-somehow webgrafic design-something (blame my fiancee for this). This one is about my content job.

As a content, my main role is to translate information (health tech, tech or anything) in a somewhat comprehensive way so about anybody can read my articles. And boy, I love my job, the research part, the writing part, almost everything. But on some days I have to find a way to explain protozoa to normal people. Aaaaaand today I have to explain this shit!

Now, how the f*ck I will manage this, I have no darn clue but I am starting to learn how my dev fiancee feels when he has to explain some complicated stuff to his clients, I swear!

    Analogies are your friend. I find translating complex development concepts into still complex but more relatable analogies goes a long way.

    For example I relate the process of a website's design and development as akin to building a car or a house - all the time. Both a website and a car are complex with many moving parts and systems working together. But people understand a car has an engine (your web server) and a driver's dashboard area (similar to your site's admin area in browser, etc...).

    I use this to help bridge the gap and hopefully they then gain some better understanding without needing to get to technical.

    Maybe think of a way to transfer some of the harder concepts of your topic to a more relatable analogy or real world example someone can follow along with?

    Good luck!!

    @Vip3rDev well I usually do this, but in this case is about a god damn nose (BassetHound). I first had to find the word for that in my native language ( took me 2 h) then I had to go on some shady websites to find how that work in biology, then I had to understand all of that and put it in a way so everybody can understand that. My brain is overloaded right now (sorry for my English, but at this point, my brain has stopped working.)

    do you know somebody who is an "expert" with this? Try to explain the topic to him/her and he/she will correct you?

    try this!

    1.
    "This method used by the nazis to determine race will blew your mind - literally! The determination of the cephalic index has a dark history. Invented in 1860 the mass and shape of the skull was used to classify race and ethnology. As it was en vouge in the 30ties in german high society this method lead to the greatest atrocities of human man kind."

    2.
    "Your nutshell in numbers - Did you ever think where your ancestors came from? Sure there is DNA testing but there is a simpler method called the cephalic index. It's the science of meassurement of the scull in order to categorize where we came from."

    3
    "What have animals and human in common? We all have a brain. And we Humans have in comparison a huge one. This needs space. The so called Cephalic index is the measurement used by anthropologists to clasify our appearance based on the size of the volume of the scull. "

    @heyheni

    Thanks, a lot, I finished my article yesterday. But my biggest problem was that I can't go with paragraphs that explain one thing (even tho it's relevant), I had to put it very short. I`m paid per word and my manager has some trust issues, I don` t know why he thinks every content writer tries to screw with him and his money so I had to keep it very short, like 10 words short.

    @Mitiko Thanks, a lot! I came across that link the thing is ... I had to find then translate it in my native language and give the info in short and in a way so everybody, even the ones that didn't finish school to understand it. It took me a while, mostly because it was a hell to find the scientific terms in my native language.
