    @HollowKitty your profile says backend and db. Why not upgrade it to full stack ?

    @Teknas I occasionally do front-end work but I prefer to specialize because it allows me to develop expertise. A lot of the "full-stack" developers I know either have expertise in one particular area, or they don't have expertise in any of them. In a team, it's better to have a few T-shaped developers whose specialties are in different areas than multiple developers who spread themselves too thin across the same places. I prefer to focus on the backend and DB side of things so that's what I put myself across as, but I work in a small company so I wear many different hats. :)

    @HollowKitty I like that T shape metaphor. I think we probably all naturally fit into that somehow. To me the term full-stack is not something that should even be desirable, except for maybe to a startup company because they can hire one person to do several people’s jobs, but other than that, why would you want a generalist over a specialist when it comes to pretty much anything?
