When you get the information

"Do you need *all* of it"
Well, it's either I do half a job and waste my time, or get it all done in one shot

"The client wants it tomorrow"
When will we have the information?
"We don't know"
Well they aren't having it tomorrow then, are they...

Sales people... don't care *how* things work, as long as they get a tick against their name to show they've sold something...

    Well give them half the work as long as you are on hour or monthly pay you should do what you can leave the rest and if it work or not its not your problem as long as you document what specks you did work after and what were missing to do a full job

    @eidar problem is it becomes my problem because "it's no longer a sales issue" when the work has started! So I end up doing all the chasing for info I should already have!

    Yea then its all needed info or not start yea well good luck on that project the seems like you need it when handling sales
