    Only thing worse is when they ask for "the codes"

    Trick is to lock them down in a contract, then refer them to the clause which is along the lines of. "Touch the code, and my responsibility for it ends. Pay me for everything up to this point. You fuck it, you fix it. Or you pay me to fix your fuck up. Also the code is not yours, you own the licence to use it. You are not allowed to produce derivative works from it etc etc more legal bollocks".
