[serious] I'm a Windows guy. Been so my whole life. devRant community, I'd like to start playing around with Linux. As someone who has never done that before, where should I start? We're talking total noob. Thanks in advance.

Go for Ubuntu to start, it's essentially the windows of the Linux distro world.

It's how I started and pretty sure a lot of other Devs are in the same boat

+1 for Ubuntu: simple and intuitive for daily use, and lots of guides on how to do stuff. Also a good stepping stone if you later decide to go deep down the rabbit hole.

Download virtual box, install Ubuntu on a VM , play around with the system until you see it's time to install it on HDD just to prevent data loss or broken computer that needs a format.

    You will enjoy Linux :)

My station at home has two nvidia 1070 cards with SLI. I have many monitors. Would ubuntu play nicely with all of that?

I started with raspbian and the raspberry pi magazines intro to bash guide, I got to say I've gotten quite far since then.
