I got fucking scammed.
Too bad that I just realized it.
As most of you know, I am in Cappadocia atm. We had a balloon flight. Yada yada yada.
Then I took a green tour that was provided from an travel agency that was a Partner of the hotel I am in.

The guide brought us to a stone seller. At the jewellry store, we were told that they have a special kind of gem. It gets mined in Mugla(Turkey).
Thus we thought that the stones they sell are mined natural gems called Zultanit.
Oh boy were we fucking wrong.
The zultanit gems are able to change their color depending on the light it receives. We were all fascinated at the demonstration. They told us that it is the second Turkish gem. First comes Turquoise.
I bough a zultanit bracelet for myself. And a zultanit ring for my mum.
It took me about 635 Lira which is about 95 Euro.

I was like damn. They are so damn valuable. It maked sense to me, because it was changing its colors at differentt areas.

Now guess what...
I went onto the internet and checked reviews about that shop. They were mostly saying that these are not real, but lab created gems. I was deeply shocked.
I checked the "certificate" that I got from them. It matched. My gems are lab created and not mined as they told to us tourists ffs.

I am crying internally.
How could I be that dumb to believe that?

Guys, never buy anything they tell you. Check everything to its detail.

The "zultanite" is a real gem. They even have their own trademark, but we were sold a "zultanit (lbrt)".
They did not show the certificate before buying it.

Tbh I will never buy any souvenirs from this town.
    I hate having trust issues.
That is why people avoid Turkey. I am saying this as a Turk myself which makes me sad to say it.

I mean if you want to visit some awesome places and eat great food, do it here.
But for anything else, do not. Just do not. They will scam you to death. They do not even stop at their native people. They (the fake sellers) are such greedy ass hungry bastards.

If you get shown a work shop where workers act like their producing something, be cautious!
You'll probably get draged into the back shop, refuse immediately! Because they will guilt you into buying +$100 "local" shit from yiwu china which costs less than 5 dollar on aliexpress.

Also, never buy stuff where the sales person knows the names of the product in your (foreign) language.

What's wrong with lab created gems?

They're incredibly cheap to produce, and therefore much cheaper to purchase, have richer colors (and the color can be basically any shade you like), can be almost any size, and are superior quality, often even flawless. They're also significantly less likely to fade with time/sunlight/heat. They are quite literally better in every way.

I cannot understand why a rock someone found in the dirt is worth more and is somehow "better" when it is objectively worse in every aspect. Why would anyone intentionally pay more (and significantly more) for lower quality? I do not care about stories attached to gems, only that they are beautiful and sparkly.

But what about "natural"? No. There's nothing mystical about nature. "Natural spring water" is just water, possibly with slightly different mineral ratios. Still. just. water.

However, someone blatantly lying to you while trying to sell you something? That should absolutely earn them a dagger in the spleen.

I am not against lab created gems.
I am against the lies. We were told they mine them. Turns out they rather create them with this and that material themselves.
I am against a company, when they sell you something that looks like the product they indirectly promise, but then sell you the unpromised product.

Sure, they, the lab created gem, can be cheaper, but I am the type of person who would rather buy the mined gems. Plus, I would like to know it in the beforehand that I am hereby buying a lab created one.

Turkey is famous for scamming and leeching tourists. You need to keep an eye on basically everything :(

@heyheni I thought about refusing it, but some things distracted me and it was too late, when I realized it.
We were all talking Turkish (native language), besides of some Japanese girls. They got another salesman who spoke Japanese.
PS: The gem was originally found in Mugla (a city in Turkey) inside of a Mountain. Therefore we had no other option. He would not call it by an English name, because of the name's uniqueness.
It has 2 names zultanite and diaspor (or something like that).
