Cellphone sizes keep on increasing. The only phone under 5 inches that are worth buying are all iPhones.

I've been using Android phones since HTC dream. Looks like I'll have no choice but to switch to iPhone this or next year.

What phone do you use? Do you like big phones? Why?

I have small hands :(

I use IPhone SE, and hoping the release another one of it.

Its just like IPhone 6s but smaller which I want, and its the twin of IPhone 5s.

Price is pretty good, performance is good and its not big.

I use a pixel 2 xl but do kinda wish it was smaller, not a huge fan of massive phones...

Android devices just seem to be focused on getting bigger and uglier

IPhone SE is quite popular among my dev friends

If they released an SE this year, I will throw money at it until it becomes mine. The iPhone SE is just ¥15000 (that's like ~$150 usd). It's also very popular in Japan.

Otherwise I'm considering a cheap / second hand iPhone 8.

Isn't it funny though the mobile phone sizes actually fluctuate they were giant bricks and got pretty small and they got bigger again, like a roller coaster.

I liked my iPhone 5 (it did its job and most importantly it had a gintama skin that i matched with the lock screen) and even better my xperia mini pro (because it had a full keyboard and i could use a gba emulator without any problems) i have a OnePlus 3 its gigantic and its so hard to find good cases for it or even a nice skin for it, but great quality and it has a tom of power which i don't utilize at all lol

@actualdragon I wish they release it this year! I don’t want to have a big phone

All my dev friends who use(d) iPhone's are switching to android ones currently.
But most tiny sony phones are great actually! (don't have one but an ex iPhone user I know is in love with those phones)

If you have to go for a "big phone", like 6" try 18:9 or 21:9 format. It makes a huge difference when holding because it's not that wide.

    Check Mi A2 Lite.

I have a Samsung J7 Nxt. It's a cheap brick, rather on the smallish side. Love it.

    ZTE Axon 7

Pretty good value I think and just the right size for my hands, if not slightly too big.
    Also front facing speakers *-*

Only the battery could be a bit better.

@Kirito-kun me too, although its a bit small for me.

Are you running a custom rom too?

I also prefer smaller smartphones, since I like to put it in my pockets, and female jeans pockets are tiny. Currently I'm using the Sony Xperia Z5 compact (it's two years old), which is basically the only not iOS device which has a smaller display but has a number of the more high-end specs. It's literally the only device that came close to what I wanted at the time.

Mobile phones are awful to use. To combat this, manufacturers are making larger phones. People realize they like larger phones because prettier screens, but actually prefer them because they are easier to use.

The problem is, larger mobile phones still suck to use, and their increasing size makes them increasingly unwieldy and awkward. Everything about phones is difficult, and all "apps" are objectively worse than their "pc" counterparts.

I prefer phones between 4.5-5" size
They aren't small, so you get a good video experience
They aren't big that you need a separate one handed mode

Mine is Lenovo ZUK Z2... Very powerful device with a beautiful hardware, but shit OS
Though AOSP ROM did a good job in pulling the best of the hardware

+ it is the only phone I could afford which had 5" display which was FHD

@Codex404 Haven't found one that I'm confident with running on it yet.

can recommend my xperia z5 compact. it has a reasonable size and was kind of a flagship three years ago. you can find it for 200€ now.
it might not be suitable for gaming because it gets quite warm in a short timespan but beside this i cannot remember any disappointment.

    @Kirito-kun lineage has official support

    @Codex404 That's cool! I'll take a look at it.
Do you have experience with running it on the phone?

I also have small hands and I loved my s4 zoom dearly. It died a few months ago :(
Since it was the zoom, it was quite bulky. But if I love some stats, I'll put up with anything.
Having a bigger phone now. So far I've gotten used to it quite fast. Feels allright and the stats are worth it.

The s9 is fairly small compared to some others and feels comfortable tbh. Otherwise go to the store and check if there is something that feels good to you.

A phone's size being the only reason to put up with an iphone sounds like the worst reasoning ever. Sorry mate.

I'm trying all these phones out at the moment but still missing Xperia xz2 compact and other small phones. This could take a month or maybe 2. Must fit in hand and pocket and support apps (just 6 apps) I use.

Photo taken with a Nexus 5X

    In the photo, L to R, iPhone 8+, iPhone X, iPhone 7, Nexus 4, and iPhone 5S.

@Kirito-kun yes, it was really easy when I found a computer which did recognise my phone. (my two windows pc and linux pc didnt see it, a friends windows PC did see it right away and I had it up and running in an hour.

@Codex404 I'll try it out. Had it connected to my Windows PC before so I think it should work.

I am an Android fan tbh but I'll probably get an iPhone as my secondary phone sometime later haha. I like smaller phones but I'm currently stuck with a 6" android, 5" is the ideal size for me.

Soon after my last comment my z5 compact ended up in the water and was not turning on anymore. I've bought the XZ2 Compact to replace it. It's a little taller unfortunately but it works great and I can operate it with one hand. I'm really happy with my new device too.
