When we relocated in the company, the new plan would have put a chatty and loud co-worker in my room. I swapped her out with a totally quiet guy under the pretext that I needed him for project coordination. Both were on holiday at that time, so that move went through easily. :-)

I hate it when other people think they are better just because they are different.

musician9426yUhh many programmers need to interact a lot with people. From other employees to support to customers. Its a big part of the job. I dont think you can generalize it like that.

nnee4696y@musician true. But it is, sometimes at least, simpler, easier, shorter and not so frustrating to stick to business-style dialog. Makes people remain formal and that can be a good thing. When they relax all their shit breaks loose. And yes, I know there are quite a few very fun, interesting and intelligent people out there.
BTW, you generalized, voxera was venting frustration, unlikely she's discarding everyone.
I hate it when people from other "cool" departments come in to our office and call us "too quiet", "unsociable" ,"not fun"..
They need to stop for a second and realize how we got to being programmers...
Personally, I went through all the possible professions and asked myself.." which job requires the least amount of human interaction?"
SO SHUT THE FUCK UP AND GET YOUR HIPSTER FACE THE FUCK OUT OF HERE!
