Youtube is disgusting.

They deliberately implement some crap that tries to circumvent ad blockers, fail at that, that causes videos to have a delay before loading.
Then they implement a fucking popup during this delay, telling you to klick there for more information why there is a delay.
And when you klick on that, they essentially tell you that your ad blocker is probably why there is a delay.

No, assholes, the ads is why there is a delay.

Dishonest, manipulative pieces of shit.

Oh sure, let me disable my ad blocker to trade the 5 seconds delay for 2 minutes of annoying ads.

@Lensflare no, but i haven't noticed any considerable issues so far. youtube is just a slow and bloated piece of shit with or without adblock. i was honestly amazed at how performant chinese BiliBili is.

I have premium. No such problem. Youtube music IMO better than Spotify. No ads on videos even on mobile is just a bonus.

am I being experimented on by youtube as well as by apple? I'm using ublock origin, and NEVER had any problems on youtube. not a single ad, delay, etc.

@kiki I remember in the early days of Facebook they published a study showing they could manipulate people's emotions by changing what gets shown to them in their feed. People did not react well finding out they'd been unknowing test subjects, plus ethical concerns. They stopped publishing their research after this. They definitely did not stop experimenting.

@kiki this delay problem is quite recent. I think I noticed it since yesterday.

@atheist I know that youtube is a business and they need to make money with ads with users which don’t pay for premium.
However this is not an excuse for being slimy dishonest scumbags.
They are lying to the users and they know it.

Like, what should they say instead? If they said "we see you're trying to block ads, we've added a delay, you could get premium to avoid", if they'd prefer to show ads they don't want to do that, so vaguely indicating towards your blocker isn't "untrue" in the legal sense, there is a delay from showing anything because of the ad blocker. You still probably start the video sooner because of the adblock, but loading is delayed because of the adblock.

You refuse to pay for YouTube because it's to cheap huh apple boii? I pay for YouTube because it's actually amazingly cheap considering how much it's used. I'm really wondering what software developers do with their money. I'm sure they're wasting 15,- on something stupid already monthly. Cancel your fitness subscription and pay for YouTube and don't do that annoying blocker stuff, just go for comfort.

hmm... well... I didn't know whatever evil was. but then I went to the spirit realm. and evil is real. I don't know what intellectual definition it would have. but it is spiritually very real and terrifying. you can spend hours screaming in horror about how horrific it is and it still won't end

@atheist no way I'm paying them. Not after all the nagging they started doing years ago on Android. They asked me so many times to go premium that I started to use newpipe. This was before the ads issue.

I don't mind paying for stuff that I use/want to use. I do mind putting whiney little bitches.
