Why does Linux Bluetooth audio not work properly!!!!
I have been using Linux on my laptop (moving from macOS). I got so used to Linux, and I love it so much at this point, but I really wanna use my Bluetooth speakers (subwoofer ❤️❤️).

So, now, I have to use OSX again and I am actually disliking it.

I think it must depend on the controller you're using. When I plug in my Bluetooth controller, it works brilliantly with my portable speaker.

@bahua well, in a laptop it is a WiFi + Bluetooth combo chip right?
I don't know much, but this is actually a very common problem.
It even works fine when the speaker and laptop are within 4-6 feet distance. But otherwise, heavy stuttering occurs 😟

Most likely a problem with a shitty proprietary bluetooth module - get an external one (that's in any of the supported device lists) or build with the appropriate kernel option, which is most likely already in there.

@Electrux on OSX you get a better range than that?

@JoshBent yes, on OSX it works fine! On my different laptop also, same issue. On that laptop, on windows, it works fine though 😕

@Electrux laptop model? distro you've used? how much more range do you get on windows/OSX?

MacBook Pro 2015
MSI GE62

Distro:
Daily driver: Arch
Tested on: Mint, Ubuntu, Manjaro

@Electrux According to the wiki* it should work right out of the box and there's no mentions of range issues, have also asked some people they don't seem to see any difference between when they used windows and switched to arch, one said somebody mentioned before that it didn't work on arch but worked fine on manjaro and antergos - though most of them use different macbooks, most likely would be solved using an external dongle, but then again - one port would be gone at all times..

Ugh... No! I'll try gentoo this time and see if it works somehow... Otherwise, I am gonna b switching back and forth between Arch and Mac...

@Electrux I'm using arch with bluetooth headphones and it's working fine. I'm using alsa and pulseaudio. Compare https://gitlab.com/jckimble/... to yours maybe it will fix it

@PerfectAsshole i have been troubled with this issue since I started using linux as my main OS. If this config actually gets bt audio to work correctly, I would be so darn happy 😅😅

@jAsE well, I guess there is still no point in using Windows on a Mac. No graphics card anyway 😂😂😂
And I can't live without a package manager, a tiling window manager (or something which supports multiple desktops) and a lovely zsh terminal 😅😅😂😂😊😊😊
