I do believe dual SIM is more common in some other countries, but for the vast majority of Apple's market, it's a pretty useless feature.

Why would you need dual sim readers? Seems like space that could go to a slightly bigger battery

Although I have never used two sims, some of my colleagues do. One phone number is for their family & friends and the other one is for their colleagues. No it's not new far from it, but in the US, it hasn't taken off well. But when apple does it, it always takes off, no matter how old it is already. Like Apple pay. Nobody gave a crap about mobile payments. Google wallet? Softcard(or their old name: ISIS)? nah we don't take that hipster money. But Apple pay? If course we are running out to buy NFC payment systems or finally enable the system we've had for years but never enabled!

Maybe other phone makers in the American market will bring back dual SIM.

People use dual SIMs as some use two emails.
