Hello all, I know we can search in git lab for the labels(easy, first commit etc) to find open source projects that suit me, but as a rookie it gets a bit frustrating not understanding the project and so on. Does anyone know a better way to contribute to open source and learning at the same time?

Do documentation for the project. You learn the system and contribute at the same time

Make your own open source project. It does not have to be big or insanely complex. But you can learn in your own pace and others can help you. And who knows.. your project might come in handy for someone.

Other than that I can only think about working on a group from the beginning with other people.
