Alright, question about graphics cards:

I want to get a six-monitor graphics card.
Currently looking at one but there's a thing:

The visiontek radeon 7750 seems great, manufacturer is AMD.

When searching for images of the *visiontek* radeon 7750 vs the AMD radeon 7750, I get different pictures, according to some product pages the visiontek amd radeon is produced by amd though....

They both have six inputs..

Point is: I'm going to run Linux on it (i refuse to install malware/spyware on my system for obvious reasons) and AMD has native Linux drivers for the radeon 7750: are those also for the visiontek radeon 7750?

I'm lost here. Help!

It might just be a custom model. Don't know that one so I'll look into it.

Edit: Confirming that after a quick search it seems to just be a manufacturer like Asus, MSI, etc.

So no worries about drivers, all Radeon 7750 models will work with the same.

Different Brands or Card Manufacturer usually doesn't mean different drivers. usually.

radeon 7750 means the GPU Chip, and Visiontek is the manufacturer of GPU Card. so i think it should be ok

Normally what this means is that AMD designed the graphics card and then sold the design to one or more retailers. Those retailers then produce their own cards which are sometimes slightly renamed, factory overclocked, etc.

TLD,DR: it's probably an AMD card made by someone who licensed the design.

This is standard practice in the graphics card industry. AMD designs the GPU(chip), sells it(alongside specs) to OEMs which then have to figure out where to get the memory and how to build a good VRM.

On another note:7750 is a midrange from 2012. That is SLOW. And I'm not sure how well Southern Islands are supported compared to Polaris.

Sidenote 2:visiontek is a really obsure brand. Unless you're buying used locally or from a hardware store, Id stay cautious.

As the others said: It will work.

Drivers are basically an API the OS installs so software can use all of the hardware's features/functions.
In the case of graphics cards there is in most cases only the GPU which needs a driver, thus models with the same GPU only need one driver from the GPU manufacturer.

On the other hand, when graphics card vendors decide to extend the functionality (customizable lighting, ...), then the GPU driver from the GPU manufacturer will not suffice since it does not contain instructions to control those custom, additional features.

In short (goes for most electronic hardware):
- Standard features => chip vendor driver is sufficient
- Additional model specific features: Driver of the manufacturer (OR chip vendor driver + additional software from manufacturer for custom features)

I recommend the drivers from AMD. They will always be up to date. The manufacturers don't always keep their drivers up to date.

Manufacturer doesn't matter. A 7750 is always a 7750.

@Haxk20 My point exactly. But linuxxx doesn't care about gaming or ongoing support, only about his 6 monitors. And I still haven't found a 570 with 6 DP or HDMI ports. On top of that, new hardware might be overpriced.

Other companies will take it and do their own spin on it

For example: custom cooling, more or less ram, different form factors, LEDs.

@Haxk20 i just need to run 6 monitors and next to that my budget is quite limited so yeah.

@linuxxx you need to check if the card can actually run all 6 outputs simultaneously.

Just because the card has 6ports, doesn't mean you can drive 6 displays at once.

For instance, Nvidia, limits it to 3 monitors per card, if I'm not mistaking.
Unless Quadro or something like that, of cause.

On the and RX480 and 580, 4 monitors work.
On aftermarket cards with a 5th, I can't tell, don't have experience with that.

You might want to take a look at a fire pro or radeon pro since those are aimed at something like those crazy multiple monitor setups.

How would I find information as for how many ports of that graphics card could be used simultaneously?

I got this new Facebook Google drivers for that card. They are free but only ask you to track your screen.
