@CoffeeNcode I would not be surprised to hear this company went out of business next year. They have treated employees and partners disgracefully. And considering how inept they have proven to be technologically, I can't see how they'll last.

@Stuxnet @cantthinkofone I could easily shut down their eCommerce site right now. They removed my email access and think that somehow prevents me from accessing other systems!
But they are already failing so much on their own that it would be pointless. Better to watch them burn through their own failure.
...though I wish they wouldn't since there really are some great people there who deserve some job stability. -
Honestly man you should try and find out if you can sue.
I don't know about the rest of the world. But if you are in the U.S you can build a strong case for fraud because of this.
The reason why companies do this shit is because no one ever does shit. Fuck them over and then leave. -
@AleCx04 I considered it, or at least giving them some bad PR, but the conversations were over the phone, so I can't prove that they were supposed to give me a raise. Not much I can do without proof.

@netikras Honestly, this is good for me too. I enjoy my contract work significantly more, and it pays so much better. I had become so complacent that I wasn't worried about what was best for me. I have a client that has been begging me to work for them full time for over a year since I started contracting part time.
I don't need this boring, bad paying, unethical employer! -

It's a good practice to send a follow-up email for "clarification" after a call or discussion that affects your employment benefits/status to create a paper trail for crap like this.

DEADC0DE2426yThis is the story of a guy who unintentionally brought down a web-service and effectively the revenue generating component of a small scale start-up.
When this guy quit the company, they had initiated the process to remove his login credentials(username and password). Now, a lot of moving components were coupled with these credentials because this guy single-handedly did a lot of heavy-lifting and no one bothered as everything was working fine.
One fine day, the credentials were finally obsolete and the whole service was down.

This is a company that raised their prices a few months after I joined, telling customers that they were losing money at the lower prices and didn't make enough profit from the items (a total lie). When customers stopped buying, they lowered prices again quietly, but by doing so they showed all the customers that they had been lying in the first place.
This is a company that had an IT team that was fully remote and was operating very efficiently but then fired the whole team but me because the CEO didn't trust remote workers anymore.
This is a company that switched eCommerce platform AND ERP/shipping solutions with two months' notice (the project I referred to in my post) against the advice of every expert at the company simply because the CEO blamed the systems for the bad profits.
This is a company where the CEO called me and assured me my job was secure just 6 months ago (a trick to keep me for the big project no doubt). -
I got nothing to worry about. U got a job and that’s what matters.
Learn from any mistakes and experiences. Do everything so this kind of stuff does not repeat.
Otherwise flush this experience out of you system. Take a little break. -
Oh one more thing there is no loyalty in this business. Only friends u make are the ones that will help u.
We devs take care of other devs. Stick together with ur genuine friends and colleagues.

Well unfortunately after such experiences, you learn to leave exactly at 6 or whatever. Nobody gives a fuck about you so why should you give a fuck about them?
Expect to be paid more for the work that you already do if you think you deserve it.
It would be great if effort and loyalty were appreciated, but the world is just too full of assholes. -

I can't believe I'm going public with this, my ISP will be found, Interpol will knock at my door and next thing I know I'll be in a basement in Ekaterinburg with a well thumbed copy of "Nicholas and Alexandra" to keep me from the gunfire... if this person drives to work take a pen knife to the tyres of their vehicle.

So today I got let go from my job.
I've worked for this company for about 2.5 years, and soon after joining I became the only IT resource for software. I had to support literally everything after they fired the rest of the team, but I did a great job and have been praised by all the management at the company.
A few months ago, after a salary review and a frank discussion with my boss and his boss, they agreed that I am due for a raise. They had a massive project coming up with a lot of extra expenses, but I was told that right afterward they would be giving raises.
I spent tons of late nights and weekends on this project, and we were able to get it mostly finished about a 1.5 months ago. I was instrumental in the project (the rest of the IT team didn't even know how to set up simple DNS records). An email was sent to the whole company thanking me for all the work I put into the project.
A week ago, I messaged my boss to ask about the status of raises as he had told me they should be going out at the beginning of this month. He said there won't be any raises, and that's all I heard. Then today I get a call telling me that they are letting me go.
Let me get this straight: you led me on with talk of a raise just to keep me here working long hours for your big project, and then you fire me after recognizing what a great job I did? That's just sick. I have watched them treat other employees and partners unethically, but it took getting it first hand to realize how bad it really is. My teammates were in shock when I said I was leaving as they have all leaned on me very heavily.
Fortunately, I have had several offers come in over the last few months (2 this week) for more pay. I only held off because of the lies I was told about receiving a raise and out of a false sense of loyalty. I'm not worried about my future at all, just angry at the way I was treated.
