lxmcf199506y@devTea recommend the 2018 model, it may not be cheap but the 4 physical cores and SSD are worth the money if you can justify it else I would suggest ignoring the pro and going standard MacBook

I paid up for the 2TB SSD in late 2016. That can only be useful. I probably didn't need the top processor and graphics too.

lxmcf199506y@devTea yes they all come with an SSD from memory, don't think apple has put mechanical drives for years.
Also the latest SSD's (2016-2018) are crazy fast and reliable.
But if they go with a 2018 model just stay away from the 15", great laptop but far from worth the money.
