Facebook is driving me absolutely fucking crazy so I’m trying to take a break from it. But I need something to fill the void so I’m gonna be spending more time on here 😎😎😎

@dev1410 I deactivate mine periodically when I find it’s getting too bad for my mental health, but I keep coming back to it eventually 😞

I find devRant users to be far more agreeable than those of Facebook. I think in large part it's because people's echo chambers over there are far louder and customizable. Over time it just breeds new waves of self-centered assholes.

I find it refreshing honestly that I don't have a whole lot of control over what I see here. It counters echo chambers pretty nicely, and then people tend to not be assholes.

    That's my theory, anyway.

I haven’t used Facebook for at least a year, life is less stressful without that constant spam feed.

Hard deleting it is the best solution.

You can make a dump beforehand, which is a bunch of offline html files with all your contacts, posts, responses, chats, photos, etc.

@baeovvulf just out of curiosity: why do you keep returning to Facebook?
  • 2
I keep using it and will not stop..
    Reason? Family and friends.
Just don't check chats and posts all the time.
Mine is always open, but it can be a days for me to reply to one msg

I only use facebook whenever I have a new app to publish. That's the easiest way to get some initial advertising for freeπŸ˜…

Facebook used to be a genuinely interesting place back in the day - I used to be able to browse through my newsfeed and have a good idea of the nice things family and friends had been up to.

These days it couldn't be further from that. Any nice, interesting things my friends might be up to are drowned in spam, clickbait, copy paste scams, political news articles with 50 long threads arguing about Brexit & politics in general, and a couple of people posting 10 photos of their kids every day.

I'm still on there, but heck, devrant ftw.

@Hubot-0x58 I fucking wish. I'm so fucking glad that I left that mass surveillance network years ago.

@GyroGearloose Leave Facebook anyway. Good friends and close family will contact you anyway by phone/mail/text. The rest is not worth your time, and by filtering out people you have more time to write code 😁
