A better ending would've been like

5 months later, "the frustrated developer drafts a type-c spec and sends a proposal to the USB WG."

    USB-C is glorious.

It was a lot longer coming than 5 months! This flaw was immediately obvious about USB and it still took them 18 years to finally correct it.

Old USB -> one way is correct, required 3 insersions
New USB-C -> two ways are correct, now only require 2 insersions!

Yeah USB-C is making life better but until the rest of the world catch up on this, it's pretty much dongle hell for USB-C users.

You can bother writing "jokes" but not clicking "Joke/Meme"?

I won't be happy until we have a connector standard that works at any angle.

And meanwhile the world is also getting rid of the jack plug, a perfectly fine plug that works at any angle, not just two...

    1 month later:
    Dev inserts pendrive, won't recognise.
Lifts the usb key slightly up with one finger, works perfectly fine.
    Accidentally moves finger, won't recognise.
    Aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

And that's why I always have duct tape at my workstation. Literally all of my type-c ports failed within 4 months of purchase.
