Do you have a portfolio site? A linkedin profile? Anything that gives you online presence?

If you get yourself a nice looking website in which you showcase your talent then you will have an advantage when applying for jobs :) try and get a few links in your portfolio to things that you have done that are currently running, let them be complex items, not just small hello world todo type apps. I hate linkedin, but if you have a professional looking profile it will definitely help.

And last, this will suck major dick. But try and do something for a client for free....i know...i know...when i started i did a wordpress page for a client. It blew their friking mind away and i found out later that they had believed that i coded the admin interface and everything. During the time in which i was able to correct them they had already told someone(who would eventually become one of my employers) that i was a genius

If you go with the free project, make it something that wont become a month long job, it has to be small since your skills are valuable and this is only to get you exposure and make people know who you are. If you hate wordpress. .eat that pride. You would be amazed at what the platform can do and how much money it can bring.

Best of luck my dude. Ask away if you have any other questions or any concerns.
