@FrodoSwaggins I have an old system with 4gm RAM and I still use VS code with no trouble.
And I don't know what you mean when you say unusable.... I guess you've just never used Visual Studio -
Great! And it also won't fit into your hard drive anymore. Microsoft installs a ridiculous amount of software silently and they have their own version of all industry standard applications/practices.

@FrodoSwaggins idk wtf is your colleague doing, but I never had performance issues with VS code, and I use it everyday, often leaving it open for days in a row. My guess is that some extension in it is causing a memory leak.
VS code is actually one of few electron based apps with a good performance and I don't see any IDE running faster than it.
So if you're having performance issues with a text editor, either your installation or your hardware is fucked up. -
@FrodoSwaggins No offense but you are the prime example of elitism. There is not a single rant that is ms/windows/non c++ related, where you did not comment. I mean I am not really a supporter or fan boy of those things either but sometimes these comment have a "Im shoving my opinion down your throat" smell to them. This is just a friendly request to be a bit more open minded. :)

JS96184936y@flabbet First preview probably in December (there is "Microsoft Connect();" event on December 4, so probably then).
The stable version probably in March/May 2019. -
JS96184936y@Krokoklemme Smaller menu on the top, more space for your code.
And a lot of performance improvements, etc. -
Brolls31566yI’m really leaning on Rider lately. I even bought a license for my business.
It’s hands-down better across the board, the only thing that is a bit pants is the database connectivity in the IDE, but I just use management studio or workbench.
I do have to crack open VStudio to do a database publish though. -
Another gigabytes to download and hours to configure...
Im not moving from my VS 2018!
No. Unless it has the same theme, functionality and unity support. -
@Gregozor2121 Visual Studio 2018?
There is only 2017 and 2019-preview. In the preview all your settings (including extensions that are compatible) will get transfered
Visual Studio 2019 is gonna look awesome… even though I don't get why the new "blue" theme will be violet. 🤔
