    Digital currency is coming.
    One way or another.

@irene This time last year BTC was worth nearly $20k USD.

    Today? $3.3k.

    Numbers don't lie 🀷🏻‍♂️

Well bubble doesn't mean it's worthless. There was a real estate bubble. It's not like people stopped needing real estate. Lots of people take offense when someone says crypto is a bubble cause they think that means crypto isn't going to happen. I think it might happen, but that was definitely a bubble.

Well basically in 2017 everyone wanted btc.. in 2018 everyone wanted to sell them..

@irene I also think it's definitely not going to be made fiat in the us first. Some small Nordic country most likely lol

@irene right, there will be a way to tie it to something biometric or *shudders* something like a social security number

@irene yes but they get stolen so often I'd hate to have any more money tied to it than necessary.

@irene all the time. Actually that reminds me. I found a large text file in the darknet years ago filled with stolen identities. My friend was going through the final steps to become a Judge, and I was going to hand it over to him to take care of. But then he died and I forgot about it. I should look into who to hand it over to. I'm sure I still have it on an encrypted drive somewhere. Those people should be warned, if it's not already too late, and preferably without me getting in trouble.

The interesting battle in 2019 will be whether there will be more new crypto currencies than new JavaScript frameworks.

@heyheni I don't really understand why "digital currency" would be coming. We can already buy on internet without physical currency, so essentially it is already here. On top of that, we can pay with it everywhere except shady business in darknet or whatever it is called that sells drugs and other illegal stuff using crypto only. I can also make instant bank transfer with 0 fees. I don't even have to know their account number, phone number is usually enough.

Only thing that crypt does have is some degree of anonymity, but I don't see it go well with privacy changes that governments do right now.
