    Well, it IS less likely, since viruses don't usually point towards their source code. And they are often checked, but only if the program is popular enough.

    @Fabian open source is not checked "very often", just because it is open source and used a lot.

    @electrineer never said anything about viruses, but about the fact, that open source does not mean, that it is checked very often or "safer". Don't read what was never written.
