Seat heating is a subscription already (for BMW or Mercedes or something)

D-4got10-01248821dWait... Have I just read that the DLC model has been adopted in cars, too? Fucking hell, how much extra for the 'premium safety' package a.k.a. seat belts, maybe even "Don't Die Deluxe" airbag installment service? D-4got10-01248821dWait... Lensflare2123821d@D-4got10-01 they will never sell security as extras directly. The government will have a problem with that. Lensflare2123821d@D-4got10-01 they will never sell security as extras directly. The government will have a problem with that.

But everything else, yeah, if they can lock it away behind a payed subscription, they will.

Not enough customers said no to this crap so they will make us get used to it more and more, until this practice has become the standard.

 It happened with games.

D-4got10-01248821d@Lensflare It's sadly true about the games. W/ all the 'Deluxe', 'Premium', 'Ultimate', && whatever else version is out there. Content being purposefully cut so that it can be sold at extra cost. It's sickening. D-4got10-01248821d@Lensflare It's sadly true about the games. I remember when 'Expansion Pack' meant something. 'Diablo HellFire', 'StarCraft Brood War'. Those gave you worth for your money.

Kinda don't mind this. I don't know about their turn signals but if they wanna experiment and be weird and dumb - there are tons of other normal cars I can buy instead. Just like with their weird door handles, I kinda get "Yep, that's not for me" and accept that if I'd want something else from a Tesla that may be a costly addon.

Sometimes I get annoyed when people are outraged that every company doesn't include basics. To some extent it's good that you can choose to pay less.

Like when an airline charges extra for carry-on. As long as it's clear on the booking website - let them.

That being said...subscription-services for seat heating is madness, at least if it starts spreading to more than one company.

When it comes to extra physical controls I can at least understand that is a cost, but if it's already installed I can't respect charging a subscription fee.

I read that Tesla owners with cars lacking a turn signal stalk can now have one retrofitted – for €660.
What a brilliant business model: charging extra for something that’s standard equipment on literally every other car, even the cheapest little junker.
What’s next?
€500 for rubber trim on the bumpers?
Another €500 for the doors?
€1500 for a physical gear selector?
€2000 for real door handles?
€3000 for physical climate controls?
€4000 for a badge that hides the fact it’s a Tesla.
+ a monthly subscription.
Tesla has truly mastered the art of turning removing features into a premium experience. Innovation!
