From watching the movie Amadeus (1984) (Mozart) I realized how backward the job market is and how it never changed:

Mozart's dad: "I cannot possibly hire this girl without references!"

It's even more stupid nowadays. Now they made it illegal to hire based on feeling. lol. I mean, that's good, yeah.

Why do you need references for hiring someone anyway? Bad economy? Lack of trust in humans in general?
