For the record, never used Edge.

Not sure where it came for but I can confirm I am 99.99% sure I am virus free 😁

IIRC this has something to do with blocking changes to the Edge start page and search providers (from third party tools).

This is not malware.

This is NOT malware. It's a legit Windows folder. Check Google or the MicrosoftEdgeBackups folder in your own user folder.

@thoxx doesn't exist on my systems. That's a pretty strange name for MS to use as a folder name.

I'm not sure if this has something to do with a specific Win10 Version. The folder exists on my pretty new office Thinkpad (Win 10 Enterprise).
Google the folder name, there are a lot of entries ;-)

@maushax sure, but a file name is less “safe” then sudo or UAC
