I see it as an interesting tool full of uninteresting photos.
I used it for a short time, but I deleted it after I found myself questioning why I feel the need to share a photo (after much filtering) with friends or everyone whenever I took a photo.
I questioned its value in my life and when the answer was zero, I simply stopped using it. However, I can understand why others would not share my opinion.

@Collie problem is, if you go out anywhere in the world the first thing anyone asks you to get your contact is to get your instagram account. phone numbers and shit like that seems to became obsolete. we have devolved to a level where if you dont use or have instagram account, you are viewed as an outcast from the society. how do you feel about that?

    what is instagram? 😁

Isn’t it pretty normal that people portray themselves as someone else ?
Instagram is just another way to do it.

@FilipeRamalho that is the problem, they have twisted the whole reality upside down and now everyone who sees these fake people on Instagram wants to become fake like them and this plague generates more and more fake people, we downgraded to the point where the truth actually bothers people

@SukMikeHok People do that since civilization exists. We feel the need to be accepted and respected and most will fake themselves to do that.

But as said that isn’t new.

It is not the fault of the platform.

@Furyzer00 i am not blaming the platform

    What's instagram?

@SukMikeHok If anyone was to ask me for my instagram account, I simply say I don't have one and we move on with our lives. If people truly want to connect with me, be that socially or professionally, they can find another way.

The social media culture does bother me sometimes, but I can control how I want to deal with that. For example, I remove all unnecessary social apps and only use the remaining ones when I actually need to (i.e. to video-call my family in Ireland as I live in Germany).

Isn't it great that the fakes come out openly as fakes and it becomes easy for the rest to connect with the compatible? Social media is doing an awesome thing / a favor of profiling/filtering people so you know where you stand and who to avoid.

Empty souls will always look for something to hang on to, someone to connect with in order to justify existence/happiness/whatever they fancy. And the content folks will keep busy with a few like minded individuals.

@Alice you must be right that you did not witness everyone doing it, but if it were not true, then Instagram would have been a failed business model.

@magh81 That is really deep. I mostly agree, but I can’t detect the „fake“ ones as easily as you do.

    Seems a bit harder 😅

Sometimes I find truth there than fake manipulated media channels.

@SukMikeHok It was meant as a reflection for Alice. You have to take into account I am most likely a lot younger than her.

Agree but all social media is like that.

Twitter is people being fake SJW's.Tinder is people being fake hot Snapchat is people Snapping fake pictures of fake genitals and facebook is pictures of peoples fake baby's

Instagram is a great source for memes, love their discovery feature.
But by default Instagram recommends you thots and terrible comedy pages.

It depends on who you follow, tbh.

I mostly follow calligraphy artists and people I know IRL content is mostly "real".

Just unfollow those who you see as fake
  • 2
Just don't follow these "fake" people. There is a lot of super interesting stuff on instagram.

Fake as in 3d animation or fake as in am a low life loser that cannot meet up
  • 0
How is that different then here?
  • 0
    I post photography

Only certain people post the typical "social media lifestyle" sort of shit

@sheriffderek it's not different than here. Judgement is perspectively based. 98 crazies can deem the other 2 as cracks and you can see both the truths, depending on what end of the periscope you looking thru.

    Just choose your crazy 'wisely'

@SukMikeHok nothing has made me feel more complete than to discover I'm an outcast. My life is so peaceful without social media.

I used to believe this. But then I found that there is loads of authentic and inspiring people on social media. Real people. Let them inspire you, cut out the rest.
