Going to go on another distro jumping spree but think I'm going to install stock Ubuntu 18.04 on my actual system (Just want to see if it can change my opinion on ubuntu because last physical install i did was the release of 14.04).

Throw me your suggestions to give a gander!

(Also #IUseArch so don't worry, that has firmly been tested, broken, fixed and then fucked beyond reconcile)

    Also should I run the ubuntu install on wayland or xorg... Not sure what is best currently

    I'd say Xorg, since it has more supported desktops environments.

    @metamourge well the install is just big standard gnome so it won't be changing

    @irene never really liked cinnamon, I'm willing to give it a try but it just didn't feel right to me for some reason

    @irene I wish I could tell you, I used it on top of an arch install (can't remember the distribution) but something about it didn't sit with me, same with KDE, I think I feels a bit too messy for me but as I said, willing to try it again

    I have been running 18.04 with i3wm on all my computers for a while. It's actually pretty nice!

    I use Ubuntu 18.04 to match my Google cloud VM. Test local and deploy on cloud.

    Run without gdm. Write a script to setup xrandr to set the max resolution for all connected monitors and run it in your .xinitrc.

    Also set your default editor to vim.

    @LombArd Everything is in a docker container, but the underlying host machine (Ubuntu Server) is same, both my local laptop and Google VM.
