    Yes, MS is slowly open sourcing all of its software. They opened up all of their code base to all internal employees, so they are moving in that direction.

    If I were *nix, I'd be looking over my shoulder. If MS goes fully open source, Linux/ Unix will be historical footnotes. Below shows market share of operating systems globally. Granted, different OS's are targeted at different hardware platforms, but still. Also, if we are generous and say that all of Unknown are Linux, it still comes in at last place.

    @maushax the video chip has nonfree parts in it afaik. But mostly free hardware, yes

    @p32929 I'm quite sure that one reason Windows is still close source is that if they open sourced it the code would be the spaghetti monster.
