Tonight is my school's prom and I'm the only one of my friends that's not going. My original date cancelled on me and the other one ended up getting a boyfriend and cancelled too. Oh well.

(Am I capable of posting about something other than my personal life? Holy fuck I don't have many posts that aren't about my personal shit)

I didn't go to my prom, either. Somehow, I survived. Class of '79.

It's been a decade since I started high school, never went to homecoming or prom

    Meh.

I went to school near a beach, so everyone only stayed at prom for 45 minutes before they went to the beach to get fucked up.

I skipped both years because why pay for a tux rental, a ticket, a meal, and pictures for about 45 minutes?

Our semiformal was more lit than prom. But I skipped that too lmao

I actually kinda wanted to go this year after kinda bailing on my date last year due to personal issues (I told her at least a couple months in advance, and she actually ended up being one of the ones that cancelled on me this year to go with her now boyfriend)

@rutee07 I can't even dance in the first place. Not even slow dance or any of that shit. I was gonna ask my best friend to teach me how, but then shit happened between us and we didn't talk for a while (until the past few weeks). Me and her had an arrangement that if neither of us had plans then we'd go together, but then someone asked her and..yeah.

I was there today while she was getting her hair and makeup done, and she looked fucking amazing. But it kinda hurt to see her going with someone else (especially cause me and her date have never been fond of each other lmao)

My friends did invite me to be there when they took pictures, and they included me in some of them, so that made me feel a bit better about everything.

People, are proms really that important there? In my country, we don't have highschool proms, more like impromtu "Yea, exams are over, let's get wasted!!!!!1!!!!!11!!"

Or is it that most girls believe in being prom queen, and most boys believe in the transformation or prom to porn? Just curious.

@desmondanimus it is a "chaperoned" dance. It's part the high school senior year ritual. There is a junior prom, too, but the"important" one is the senior prom.

In my country, this prom thing is more of a normal party, just that nearly everyone gets wasted. No such thing as prom dates, limos and over priced shit. Also I hate dancing but fortunately I wasn't the only one. On to college now :)

They seem to be a "big thing", but I've never understood the attraction quite frankly. I went to my school one, that cemented my distaste for such frivolities, and my confusion as to why people could possibly ever enjoy them has only magnified as my age has increased.
